Job Description

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Sustainability Manager to lead sustainability strategies, reduce carbon footprint, and promote green practices. The role involves onsite project management, coordinating LEED processes, and maintaining relationships with green organizations. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 8 years of sustainability experience, and strong communication skills. The position is based in Missouri City, MO, and may require travel.
Key Role Responsibilities - Core
• Leads research and analysis to develop sustainability strategies ensuring environmentally friendly practices that comply with regulations.
• Collaborates with leaders to implement processes that reduce the organization's carbon footprint.
• Promotes the organization's sustainability philosophy to internal and external audiences, ensuring project milestones and budgets are met.
• Coordinates project sustainability through an integrative approach, establishing goals, conducting green charrettes, developing and implementing green plans, and achieving certifications.
• Provides onsite management and expertise for assigned projects or programs.
• Manages onsite LEED processes for projects or programs.
• Stays updated on best practices and communicates changes effectively to team members involved in design, construction, and management.
• Promotes green workplace practices and maintains relationships with green building organizations such as USGBC, Enterprise Community Partners, and others.
• Maintains fiscal records, understands business plans, and manages financial goals, including monitoring performance and mitigating risks.
• Acts as a primary contact for green building-related items.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and timely.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and USGBC LEED Online (intermediate to advanced).
• Deep knowledge of USGBC standards and LEED certification processes.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
Education
• Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction, or related field (required).
• Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the degree.
Experience
• Minimum 8 years of sustainability experience.
• At least 2 years of team leadership experience.
Working Environment
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
• May require overnight travel and working non-traditional hours.
• Exposure to extreme conditions may occur.
• Work may be at project sites or in an office environment.
