Job Description

Quanex International is seeking a Sustainability Manager - International to implement and coordinate sustainability strategies across its global operations, excluding North America. The role involves improving sustainability performance, developing divisional plans, and ensuring compliance with EU regulations. Key qualifications include a degree in sustainability or a related field and managerial experience in sustainability. The position requires 25-50% travel to support various locations.
How the role will make an impact:

As the Sustainability Manager - International for Quanex, this position will play a crucial role in embedding and coordinating the execution of the sustainability strategy through more sustainable products, services and operations across its divisions. This role covers all of Quanex’s operations outside of North America, including manufacturing plants in the UK, Italy, Germany and other significant facilities in RoW.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
Proactively identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement in sustainability performance across the divisions, assisting the executive teams in their implementation. Develop, execute and track annual divisional sustainability implementation plans to deliver the Quanex sustainability strategy. Work with product development teams to co-ordinate the establishment of divisional strategies to deliver a pipeline of environmentally and socially beneficial products and track revenues against relevant UN Sustainable Development Goals. Work with businesses to help them fulfill their sustainability reporting obligations under the EU’s CSRD legislation. Facilitate the deployment of International Standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 and coordinate responses to customer sustainability survey requests. Travel between 25% and 50% to provide on-site support and engagement with Sustainability team members.

Key Skills:
Degree qualified in Sustainability or a related field such as engineering or technical. Proven experience of working in a managerial role in a sustainability environment. Knowledge of environmental and sustainability regulations, including extended producer responsibility requirements, corporate reporting and EPDs. Professional membership of a recognised environmental or sustainability body is desirable.
