The City of Reno is seeking a Sustainability Manager to oversee the Green Action Plan and Resiliency Action Plan. The role involves project management, developing sustainability policies, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Candidates should have a degree in Environmental Science or a related field and five years of relevant experience. This is a full-time mid-management position based in Reno, NV.
Sustainability Manager

This is a mid-management position that directs and coordinates the activities related to the formulation and implementation of the City's Green Action Plan and Resiliency Action Plan.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, sustainability, and project management, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The Sustainability Manager will be responsible for:
• Developing goals, objectives, policies, priorities, budget, and project management related to sustainability and resiliency efforts and programs.
• Coordinating assigned activities with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies.
• Providing highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Director of Public Works/City Engineer.

The Sustainability Manager will also be responsible for:
• Evaluating complex environmental aspects of projects, including City Capital Projects, audits and assessments for environmental efficiency, environmental regulatory requirements, and liability.
• Researching and interpreting regulations and directing implementation of changes to assure compliance.
• Communicating complex policy and technical material to public officials, the general public, and the media.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field, and five years of progressively responsible experience administering environmental programs. Registration as a Certified Energy Manager is preferred.
