About the position
The Sustainability Manager at the Allegheny County Airport Authority (ACAA) is responsible for managing and implementing sustainability programs aimed at enhancing the airport's environmental performance. This role involves driving initiatives related to energy, water, waste, and resiliency, with a focus on achieving net-zero emissions and operational sustainability. The manager will oversee data collection and analysis for various sustainability certifications and will work collaboratively with consultants and community stakeholders to promote sustainable practices within the organization.
Responsibilities
• Manage the implementation of ACAA's sustainability programs.

• Drive progress in energy, water, waste, and resiliency initiatives.

• Develop and enhance sustainability initiatives towards net-zero emissions.
,
• Oversee data collection and analysis for Airport Carbon Accreditation and other related programs.

• Plan and supervise sustainability projects in collaboration with approved consultants.
,
• Research, collect, analyze, and document environmental and operational data.
,
• Create and maintain a culture of sustainable practices and awareness.
,
• Develop sustainability education and engagement materials for staff and the community.
,
• Prepare and coordinate meetings, workshops, and agency meetings.
,
• Manage and lead environmental and planning contractors.
,
• Provide updates to the Manager of Environmental Services on project activities.
,
• Prepare technical reports and ensure projects are completed on schedule and budget.
,
• Review and approve work of consultants and contractors.
,
• Provide professional assistance during project design phases.
,
• Represent ACAA as a technical resource for external organizations.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, environmental policy, urban planning, environmental engineering, public policy, or sustainability.

• 3-5 years of experience in sustainability or a related field.

• Familiarity with green building rating systems is preferred.

• Broad knowledge of sustainability planning principles and practices.
,
• Ability to research, organize, and analyze information effectively.

• Ability to consult with staff regarding research data for sustainability studies.

• Collaborate with leaders to implement processes that reduce carbon footprint.

• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
