Job Overview

Aramark is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Director of Sustainability. This position will be responsible for leading the implementation of our sustainability strategy, with a focus on reducing food waste, single-use items, and carbon emissions.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement comprehensive sustainability programs for dining and catering operations.
• Prioritize and increase the purchase of food products from local farmers and suppliers, supporting community agriculture and reducing the organization's carbon footprint.
• Engage managers in implementing and managing creative sustainability initiatives.
• Analyze and report on client and enterprise sustainability KPIs and metrics.
• Provide guiding leadership on sustainability to operations teams, bolstering success.
• Work with operations teams on waste, energy, and water conservation initiatives.
• Facilitate ongoing sustainability training for management and hourly employees.
• Develop and facilitate workshops, content, and meetings regarding sustainability.
• Plan educational field trips for managers to local suppliers, waste infrastructure facilities, etc.
• Supervise, train, and monitor the activities of operational teams to accomplish sustainability goals in partnership with general management teams.
• Partner with managers and FLAs in kitchens to educate and provide in-the-moment coaching on sustainable food practices.
• Participate in regular meetings with internal teams, local clients, and external stakeholders.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in a subject related to sustainability (business, environment, or sustainability).
• 3-5 years of experience working in a sustainability team or specialized consultancy.
• Knowledge of and experience with social and environmental matters, including interconnected issues; understands business and operations of large food companies.
• Inquisitive mindset with strong analytical abilities; strategic thinker looking outside to bring new approaches to continually improve internal effectiveness.
• Highly analytical, able to synthesize information and offer recommendations/solutions.
• Ability to work independently and manage multi-stakeholder engagement from vision to implementation.
• Ability to communicate and facilitate dialogue with those holding diverse and opposing views, finding common ground and identifying opportunities to move forward.
• Courage and conviction in managing difficult conversations.
• Resilient, able to adapt to challenges, identify underlying concerns, share ideas, and develop effective responses or elevate to higher management.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Organized with a strong attention to detail and follow-through.
