Job Description
The New Orleans Jazz Heritage Festival is hiring Sustainability Haulers/Fork Operators for a short-term, seasonal position from April 6 to May 8, 2026. Responsibilities include managing waste and recycling processes, maintaining cleanliness, and educating attendees on sustainability practices. Candidates must have forklift certification, fluency in Spanish and English, and experience in team coordination. The role is physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift over 50 pounds and work long hours.

Under the supervision of the Sustainability Operations Lead and Sustainability Coordinator, Haulers oversee the flow of materials in their designated zone, following a scheduled route to collect, top-sort, and transport recyclables to sorting stations and drop zones./ppbr //ppHaulers serve as key communicators between Roamers and Sorters, maintaining the efficiency of the festival’s waste management system. This role is physically demanding and requires strong teamwork, organization, and a commitment to sustainability. Haulers also act as sustainability ambassadors, educating attendees and crew on best waste management practices./ppbr //ppstrongESSENTIAL FUCTIONS:/strong/ppbr //ph4emPre-Production:/em/h4ulliRetrieve and reset recycling receptacles along designated routes during festival setup./liliConduct MOOP (Matter Out of Place) sweeps to maintain clean pathways./liliTransport active receptacles at the beginning and end of each workday./li/ulh4emProduction:/em/h4ulliComplete frequent rounds to haul recyclables to designated sorting stations./liliDrag and lift recycling bags and bins to drop points./liliWork with Hauler Assistants to maintain receptacles and keep zones organized./liliManage team members in your zone to ensure efficient workflow./liliCheck in with vendors to assess hauling needs./liliPerform MOOP sweeps and clean parking areas during the event./liliStage extra bags and tools as needed./liliIf forklift certified, operate equipment to compact waste at the back-of-house sort station./li/ulh4emPost-Production:/em/h4ulliAssist with breakdown, cleanup, and inventory of waste management areas after the event./li/ulpstrongEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE amp; SKILLS REQUIRED:/strong/pullistrongForklift Certification Required/strong/liliFluency in both Spanish and English is essential./liliProven experience in team coordination or management./liliExcellent communication and translation skills./liliStrong multitasking abilities./liliFamiliarity with sustainability practices is a plus./liliAbility to thrive in a dynamic and collaborative environment with a team./liliProblem-solving mindset and proactive approach to challenges./liliAbility to work long days (10-12 hours) on your feet in all weather conditions./liliAbility to lift 50+ pounds./li/ulpstrongREQUIREMENTS:/strong/pulliUsing the Absentee Request Form, it is the responsibility of each employee and their supervisor to accurately report their absenteeism to the Festival Finance Office./liliMaintain confidentiality regarding sensitive issues./liliGive any document, computer program, design, or other intellectual property created for the Jazz Festival (and, therefore, belonging to the Jazz Festival) to the Festival through your supervisor or department head at the end of each production year, or upon request./liliAttend and complete any required training./liliComplete all required Feedback Forms and Final Reports./liliMust attend and complete any required training./li/ul
