Job Description

Vail Resorts is seeking a Sustainability Data, Projects, and Programs Manager to support their Commitment to Zero sustainability initiative. This role involves data collection, energy and waste reduction planning, project management, and communication of sustainability efforts. The position is based in Broomfield, CO, and is hybrid, requiring 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. Candidates should have strong leadership and strategic problem-solving skills.

Come be a part of the industry-leading sustainability program, Commitment to Zero, at Vail Resorts. The Corporate Sustainability Data, Projects, and Programs Manager supports data collection and analysis, the development and implementation of energy and waste reduction capital planning, and development and implementation of Commitment to Zero operational sustainability programs. This role will work with the Sr. Director of Sustainability, the Sustainability team, divisional leadership, and employees across business units. These projects and programs will support our bold sustainability goal, Commitment to Zero, for a zero net operating footprint across all 40+ resorts in all countries, and all aspects of our operations by 2030.

Job Responsibilities:
• Support collection and analysis of waste and energy data to help develop waste and energy reduction strategies across enterprise.
• Support development of energy and waste reporting and dashboards.
• Support annual greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory and process.
• Support development and implementation of capital spending plans to reduce energy consumption and landfill waste across all resorts, and across all operations.
• Support development and implementation of operational sustainability programs like active energy management program, sustainability training and outreach, waste reduction, and internal and external communications at all resorts, and across all operations.
• Support internal program to capture and track emissions, waste, and cost reductions from operational changes, behavior changes, and other capital implementation.
• Project management: Effectively manage complex capital and budgetary projects that may involve multiple resorts, departments, time constraints, and external partners that further our sustainability goals.
• Engagement and outreach: Effectively communicate environmental sustainability through various channels that will demonstrate leadership and drive guest and employee loyalty to our programs and resorts.
• Supports brand, positioning, and outreach of sustainability initiatives to guests, employees, and communities in alignment with EpicPromise.
• Teamwork & Leadership: Be a strong contributor and leader within the greater Vail Resorts Sustainability Team.
• Occasional travel will be required to resorts across North America.
• This role is based out of Vail Resort’s Broomfield, Colorado offices and is a hybrid 3 days in office/2 days remote position.

Job Requirements
• Ability to facilitate strategic dialogue and problem solving across multiple departments.
• Demonstrated ability of being Out-Front and proactively identifying programs and projects to meet various goals.
• Experience collecting and analyzing data and devloping operational strategies based on the results.
• Experience implementing and managing large projects with many different stakeholders across varied operations.
• Comfortable speaking in front of groups and building new relationships.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised.
• Strong computer skills in Excel required.

Preferred Skills and Experience
• Bachelor's degree
• Sustainability related certifications: Examples: Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or similar certifications
• Mountain resort or hospitality experience preferred.

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $61,286.70 - $65,000 + annual bonus. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment for Broomfield-based roles where employees must live within 50 miles of the Broomfield office and work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays.
