Acre is seeking a Sustainability Data Manager for a 12-month maternity cover in London, UK, to lead sustainability data collection and analysis for John Swire & Sons Ltd. Acre is delighted to be partnering with John Swire & Sons Ltd, a multinational conglomerate with a diverse portfolio of businesses spanning international shipping, agribusiness, food, energy transition, and new fuels. We are seeking a motivated Sustainability Data Manager to join the Sustainable Development Office (SDO) on a 12-month fixed-term contract (to cover parental leave). John Swire & Sons values hiring intellectually curious and adaptable leaders who can help drive strategy forward. Sustainability is a key focus for the organisation, with a central team driving impact through group-level targets, funding, and performance tracking. Sitting within the SDO team, the Sustainability Data Manager will lead the collection and analysis of sustainability data across subsidiaries while owning the Group’s Sustainable Development (SD) Data Strategy and associated policies. The Sustainability Data Manager is responsible for centralising all sustainability reporting and disclosures across the group; using data to drive action; and ensuring readiness for increased transparency in reporting. Key Responsibilities Confidently overseeing ESG reporting across the group into all operating companies, acting as the overall system leader and expert Preparing numerical reports for the John Swire & Sons Board, and supporting operating companies in the preparation of numerical reports for their own Boards Working closely with the Senior Group Sustainable Development Manager when developing plans for operating company engagement and transformation, using expert data analysis to uncover opportunities for improvement and acceleration Preparing and taking ownership of external data disclosures in line with regulations and keeping abreast of regulatory reporting requirements Acting as the Group subject matter expert on sustainability reporting, supporting improvement by operating companies Advancing JS&S’s SD Data Strategy by suggesting improvements and tracking the implementation of the SD Data SOPs and SD Data Protocol Project managing and working with digital data specialists to strengthen the structure and accessibility of SD Data Key Experience Proven experience in environmental sustainability and ESG reporting, including greenhouse gas accounting, deep knowledge of the GHG Protocol (Scope 1-3), and understanding of emerging regulatory requirements such as UK SRS. Expertise in developing and managing internal ESG reporting and performance tracking processes, working with large datasets, data warehouses, and sustainability data platforms Experience with data validation or assurance will be advantageous Proven experience leading external sustainability disclosures and reports, aligned with frameworks such as GRI, with familiarity across ESOS, TCFD, and SECR Understanding of sustainability challenges across multiple sectors, ideally including industrial or operational environments Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience influencing complex international stakeholders and supporting system implementation or training initiatives A purpose-driven, proactive individual motivated to drive positive sustainability outcomes This is an exciting opportunity to join a company with ambitious plans to transform itself into a leading sustainable business within the privately held sector.
