Job Description

MVEC is offering a Sustainability Business Analyst Internship in Jordan, MN, focusing on developing business strategies for residential and Commercial & Industrial Distributed Energy Resources. The 12-14 week internship starts in May and emphasizes hands-on learning, professional development, and networking. Interns will work on sustainability projects, conduct data analysis, and collaborate across departments. Candidates should be enrolled in a relevant degree program and possess strong communication skills.
MVEC is seeking an individual who is interested in sustainability and distributed energy resources for a summer internship helping MVEC develop business strategies supporting residential and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Distributed Energy Resources (DER) programs.

Our internship program will run for approximately 12-14 weeks during the summer starting in May and will report on-site at Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative located in Jordan, MN. Our program focuses on hands on learning, professional development, industry and business model knowledge, and networking. MVEC interns will collaborate on a shared team project with 10% of your time dedicated to this task that requires a presentation to the Executive Team. 90% of your time will be dedicated to specific job functions as outlined below. Throughout the summer, interns are provided opportunities to learn from and network with senior leadership.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Primary focus will be on product and program sustainability as it pertains to solar.
• Develop a business case supporting MVEC’s current residential and C&I DER programs, rates, and incentives.
• Provide data analysis and financial projections to support Member benefit and distribution system sustainability as it pertains to energy and demand.
• Work cross-departmentally with a focus between Key Accounts and Energy Services.

Required Qualifications:
• Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program studying business/public policy/engineering or related field with a focus on energy or power systems or an energy and climate related program
• Flexible work schedule in an indoor and outdoor environment
• Ability to take direction and initiative, work independently, and multi-task
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access and others)
• Eager to learn and grow your professional skills in a casual work setting

Pay and Benefits:

Paid internship at $20.00 per hour.

Accrual of Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) and 4 hours paid for any MVEC observed holiday while employed.

Work Authorization:

MVEC only employs those who are legally authorized to work in the United States. This is not a position for which sponsorship will be provided.
