Sustainability and Risk Management Leader

The University of Maryland is seeking a Sustainability and Risk Management Leader to manage the Department of Environmental Safety, Sustainability, and Risk. Responsibilities include developing environmental health and safety strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic direction in risk management areas. The position is full-time and based in College Park, MD, with no specific degree required.
Responsibilities
• Develop and Implement Environmental Health and Safety Strategies: Design, direct, and manage the staffing, services, and budget for the Department of Environmental Safety, Sustainability, and Risk (ESSR) and its units.
• Sustain Compliance and Regulatory Expertise: Develop policies and programs to address regulatory requirements, laws, standards, and best practices related to environmental health and safety, sustainability, and risk management.
• Lead Strategic Decision-Making: Provide strategic direction in multiple areas of environmental health and safety risk exposure, including research safety, occupational safety and health, fire safety, and environmental management.
