The role focuses on climate-related measurement and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions, emphasizing data integrity and process consistency. Responsibilities include developing methodologies for Scope 3 emissions, consolidating data, supporting cross-functional teams, and improving reporting processes. Candidates should have 3+ years in data analytics and 2+ years in sustainability or carbon accounting.
Sustainability Analyst
The Select group is seeking a Sustainability Analyst for our client in the Denver, CO area. This person will be working within the Corporate Services’ organization for climate-related measurement, management, and reporting related to greenhouse gas (GHG). The role is focused on data integrity, process consistency, and reporting accuracy and will deliver cost-effective, operationally efficient, environmentally conscious, and value-added sustainable reporting and practices within business operations.
This role is onsite in Greenwood Village, Colorado.
Sustainability Analyst Responsibilities:
• Develops methodologies and calculates complete Scope 3 emissions, particularly focusing on taking existing lifecycle assessments from internal analysis and external vendors and calculating them by GHG Protocol category.
• Consolidates initial Scope 3 GHG inventory data in various formats (Excel, PPT, dashboards) and breakouts (by scope, by goal/targets, and by business division) as requested by Sustainability or internal teams.
• Supports cross-functional stakeholders responsible for collecting activity data for Scope 3, including data validation and surveys from site managers as appropriate.
• Supports broader reporting of emissions by the Sustainability team across Scopes 1, 2, and 3, including performing initial cross-checks for accuracy and completeness of the data and emissions factors applied, including upload process to Salesforce Net Zero Cloud as requested.
• Supports process improvements, analysis, audits, and reporting on GHG, climate, and efficiency initiatives data collection methods.
• Researches individual topics as requested on GHG protocol or climate data accounting methods for Scope 3, including benchmarking from available public/external reports (ESG reporting, SASB, CDP, TCFD).
• Performs other duties as requested that support the success of the Sustainability program.
Sustainability Analyst Qualifications:
• Data analytics, research, or related functional experience 3+ years.
• Sustainability or greenhouse gas/carbon accounting experience 2+ years.
• Skills/Abilities and Knowledge:
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to take initiative and complete tasks with attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to simultaneously manage several projects in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel: ability to consolidate tabs from different spreadsheets, use existing formulas and functionality such as VLOOKUP.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office:
Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Experience using online content management and collaboration tools (i.e., SharePoint).
• Familiarity and understanding of greenhouse gas emission accounting standards and guidelines (GHG Protocol) and sustainability reporting systems such as CDP.
• Education:
Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, environmental sciences, or related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience calculating Scope 3 emissions and/or conducting lifecycle assessments.
• Experience with Salesforce and/or Salesforce Net Zero Cloud.
• Knowledge of the telecommunications, technology, and connectivity industries.
• Experience working directly for a large corporation.
• Public accounting or consulting experience.
