Job Description
Balfour Beatty is seeking a Sustainability Advisor for Supply Chain Ethics in London/Birmingham/Derby/Slough. The role involves supporting procurement teams on Human Rights matters, delivering training, developing strategies, managing supply chain audits, analyzing data for insights, and monitoring supplier compliance. Candidates should have knowledge of supply chain risks, data analysis skills, and a passion for sustainability. Experience with ethical audits is preferred.

What you'll be doing
• Support the procurement team:
Act as the main point of contact for procurement professionals across multiple
business units, providing expert guidance and operational support on Human
Rights matters.
• Training and Awareness:
Deliver targeted Human Rights training and support for:
• Procurement teams
• Supply chain partners and employees, as required, to ensure broad organisational awareness and compliance
• Collaborative Strategy Development:
Work closely with procurement and supply chain teams to:
• Develop and implement proactive strategies addressing human rights
risks
• Create and disseminate tools, guides, and resources to support
supplier development
• Enhance compliance and elevate industry-wide approaches to modern
slavery and human rights
• Supply Chain Audit Programme Management:
Operational responsibility of the supply chain audit programme by:
• Developing the annual plan that aligns with our 2030 target
• Assessing supply chain maturity
• Identifying opportunities for improvement in close collaboration with
procurement and supply chain teams.
• Supporting the procurement team on audits where additional expertise
is required
• Data Analysis and Insight Generation:
Analyse data to generate actionable insights and identify risks, opportunities,
and trends, including:
• Supply chain modern slavery audits
• Project-level data
• Other relevant datasets
• Impact Measurement:
Measure the effectiveness of human rights initiatives and campaigns, and
report on their contribution to achieving internal and external targets.
• Modern Slavery Statement Contribution:
Provide data, insights, and operational input to support the annual creation of
the Modern Slavery Statement.
• Tools and Processes Development:
Support the development, implementation, and continual improvement of tools
and processes to identify and manage supply chain risks related to Human
Rights.
• Supplier Compliance Monitoring:
Assist in monitoring supplier compliance with human rights standards,
providing operational support and escalating high-risk issues to the
Sustainability Manager, Human Rights, as required
Who we're looking for
• Good knowledge and understanding of supply chain risk
• Experience navigating complex supply chains
• Ability to analyse data and derive actional intelligence
• Ability to communicate effectively at different levels within an organisation
• A passion and drive for upskilling others
• A self-starter with the ability to influence and collaborate
• Ability to consider sustainability holistically
• Experience of ethical audits is desired; training will be provided for the right
candidate.
