Job Description

Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Supervisor for Environmental Services at Bridgeport Hospital, CT. The role involves training and supervising staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and promoting patient-centered care. Candidates should have a high school diploma, at least three years of experience in environmental services, and one year in a supervisory role. The position requires physical capability to lift 50 pounds and is full-time.

Under the direction of the Environmental Services and Support Services Managers, executes Bridgeport Hospital and Sodexo programs and procedures by training, motivating, and supervising staff to ensure all departmental tasks and responsibilities are met as per schedule and in accordance with facility, regulatory and Sodexo standards and objectives.

Responsibilities
• 1. Core Responsibilites:
• 1.1 Perform all environmental services-related tasks demonstrating service orientation to fellow employees, client staff and customers. Role models service excellence behaviors.
• 2. Inspections:
• 2.1 Conducts daily rounds on ES staff and evaluates their job performance. Takes appropriate corrective action as needed, under the guidance of the department manager.
• 3. Maintenance:
• 3.1 Submits maintenance requests for repairs to building and fixtures as noted during environmental rounds.
• 4. Safety:
• 4.1 Assure the safety of patients, staff and visitors through enforcement of department safety policies and procedures, to include the proper use of personal protective equipment.
• 5. Additional Tasks:
• 5.1 Performs any additional assignments as required by the manager.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

High School Diploma or equivalent certification required.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum three years experience in the field.
Minimum one year experience in a supervisory or lead capacity.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Provide proof of legal status to work.
Able to speak and read English.
Demonstrated knowledge of position in order to train and direct staff.
Demonstrated ability to communicate well, both oral and written.
Successful completion of hospital orientation.
Successful completion of department orientation.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

Have the ability to lift 50 pounds, sit and stand for extended periods of time.
