Responsibilities
• Assist in wildland fire prevention and preparedness programs and activities.

• Ensure readiness of wildland fire suppression equipment and personnel.

• Organize fire caches, maintain inventory, and position equipment and personnel for efficient response.

• Prepare and review various fire management plans and project assessments.
,
• Direct and perform wildfire suppression efforts in initial attack and follow-up actions.

• Implement components of the preparedness program including detection and readiness.
,
• Monitor fire behavior and evaluate fire effects during prescribed fire plans and wildfires.

• Identify training needs and participate in wildland fire and safety training.
Requirements
• U.S. Citizenship required.

• Must pass a drug test and undergo random drug testing.

• Valid driver's license required; may need a Commercial Driver's License.

• Must be determined physically fit by an authorized government physician.

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level in the Federal service.

• Must possess National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) incident management qualifications.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience in leading or supervising wildland firefighting functions.

• Knowledge of fire behavior modeling applications.

• Experience with prescribed fire operations.
