Summer Tobacco Worker

St. Louis County is hiring a Summer Tobacco Worker, aged 16-20, to assist with compliance audits at retail facilities, ensuring tobacco products are not sold to underage individuals. The position requires conducting audits, reporting findings, and organizing files. The job is seasonal, pays $15.00 per hour, and has no benefits. The Teen Worker assists us with complying with St. Louis County, Missouri Municipal Code § 602.300 which states that is unlawful for any person to give, barter, sell or cause to be sold, buy for, distribute samples of or furnish tobacco in any of its forms, or cigarette papers, to any person under twenty-one (21) years of age. Teens ages 16 but less than 21 years of age are needed to conduct compliance audits with adult staff members at retail facilities to ensure under aged youth are unable to purchase tobacco products. The ordinance requires the department of health to conduct compliance audits on 50% of our permitted tobacco establishments annually using teens. This position will be used throughout the year as needed to assist us in meeting our target goal.

Conducts set number of compliance audits with adult staff according to ordinance and procedures.

Communicates to the public in a professional manner.

Report findings of compliance audit to the adult staff member and summarize the outcome orally and/or in writing.

Writes clearly and legibly.

Assist team member with organizing facility files and preparing them for the compliance audits.

Helps to randomly select the facilities for auditing and records which facilities have been audited.

Perform such additional duties, under the indicated working environment, as may properly be required of a position in this job class.Applicants must be between the ages of 16 - 20. This is a seasonal position.
