Job Description
DTE Energy is seeking a Summer Student for Carbon Capture & Sequestration in Detroit, MI. This hybrid role involves 90% remote work and 10% on-site, supporting projects related to geological characterization and research. Students will gain hands-on experience, develop professional skills, and network within the corporate environment. Candidates must be enrolled in a Geosciences or Subsurface Engineering program. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required.

Job Summary
Location: Detroit, MI
This role is designed to provide undergraduate college students with unique opportunities to develop their individual talents and to experience a large corporate environment. This particular role will be supporting our Carbon Capture & Sequestration - Subsurface Group. This is a hybrid role with 90% of work done remotely, 5% of work at DTE HQ in Detroit, and 5% visiting project sites.
This role will be responsible for supporting our CCS active projects and designing and completing a research project. Active project support includes technical support for subsurface geological characterization, Class VI permitting, seismic acquisition, well drilling, and business development. This role will also plan and execute a research project that addresses a technical problem within the CCS business unit.
Key Accountabilities
Students in this role will:
• Gain a deep understanding of DTE’s operations, business model and key initiatives.
• Produce clear, useful, and value-added work product to support business unit with various assignments and projects.
• Gain real hands-on professional work experience
• Acquire a new network of professional contacts
• Gain a new/enhanced set of soft business skills
• Have a successful summer experience and desire to come back and work for DTE
• Perform all other related duties as assigned
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
Must be currently enrolled at an accredited 4-year university or college pursuing a degree in Geosciences or Subsurface Engineering. Graduate level students in Geoscience or Subsurface Engineering preferred.

• Ability to establish and maintain confidential and effective working relationships with supervisor, coworkers, management, and external customers

• Occasionally lift objects of up to 10 pounds in weight
• Use computers with exposure to video display terminals; and some repetitive motion associated with data entry, the use of a computer mouse, and while using other office equipment
• Vision requirements for this position include close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
The employee performs job duties primarily in a work from home capacity and periodically from a climate-controlled office environment, with a moderate noise level.
