Summer Intern - Renewable Fuels

Earth Finance is hiring a Summer Intern for its Renewable Fuels practice in Seattle, WA. We are hiring a Summer Intern for our Renewable Fuels practice. This role will be based in Seattle, WA.

What you’ll gain:
• Work on impactful analysis and research with guidance from industry experts and serial entrepreneurs with decades of experience in corporate strategy, climate financing, public policy, renewable fuels, climate tech, and investing.
• Acquire a deep understanding of carbon markets, technologies, and how these tools can be used by companies to build sustainable business models.

What you’ll do:
• Evaluate how to match carbon project investment to client and asset manager activities – and discern the true impact of carbon credit products.
• Research and develop benchmarking data on the state of sustainable finance and Scope 3, category 15 financed emissions commitments at major global financial institutions.
• Build market intelligence on product circularity solutions in the United States and abroad.
• Support custom research as we build client-facing deliverables.
• Support the development of the innovative products and services our clients need to meet their net zero commitments.

Skills you’ll need to be successful in the role:
• Passion for sustainability solutions and experience (academic and/or professional) in the sustainability space – NOTE: our internships are not meant for those interested in generalist finance and consulting career paths.
• Comfortable with asking “why” in the ambiguity of climate data and business uncertainty.
• An interest in learning how to apply first principles analysis and boundary conditions to problem solving.
• Strong “Google-fu” and ability to quickly distill industry reports, policy news, and scholarly research into relevant context.
• Competent and comfortable with the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to utilize secure data protocols and systems (e.g., Full Disk Encryption / App-based 2-factor).
• Clear and direct communication skills, with the ability to distill complex ideas from a variety of disciplines into actionable client take aways in various written and visual formats.
• Minimum of 3+ years of undergraduate education, Masters candidacy a plus. Will also accept applicants with comparable skills & expertise.

Compensation and Perks:

Compensation for this role will be $25 / hour for undergrad candidates, $62.50 / hour for Masters Degree Candidates. Summer interns will also receive up to two paid holidays (Juneteenth and Fourth of July) pending the timing of their internship and will be eligible for an additional 3 unpaid personal days that can be taken during the summer.
