Job Description

Ingram Micro is offering a 10-week paid summer internship in Environmental Sustainability based in Irvine, CA, with a hybrid work schedule allowing for remote work. Interns will collaborate on projects related to environmental policies and practices, focusing on areas like greenhouse gas emissions and waste management. The program includes professional development opportunities and aims to support Ingram Micro's sustainability goals. Interns will work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Location:

This position is based in our Irvine, CA office with the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule with a few days remote per week.

We offer internships across a variety of departments and locations throughout the U.S., giving you the chance to work at one of our dynamic offices. Our internships are hybrid, blending hands-on, in-office experience with the flexibility of remote work. Expect to work 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Important dates:
• March: Applications Open (some postings may close early due to applicant volume)
• March – April: Recruiters and hiring managers will review applications and reach out to candidates on a rolling basis. Timing of outreach for each internship position may vary, and some interviews might start sooner than others, but candidates can expect to hear by the end of April if selected for an interview.
• May: All interviews to be completed and offers to be made
• June 2nd – August 8th: First cohort start & end date
• June 16th – August 22nd: Second cohort start & end date

Department summary:

This role will support our IngramMicroPlanetary environmental sustainability team, which establishes policies, programs, and practices to achieve continuous improvement on the environmental sustainability-related topics that are most significant to our stakeholders, like greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, waste management, and water conservation. Our approach to environmental sustainability matters is data-driven and informed by stakeholder feedback, with a focus on continuous improvement. We constantly work to understand the impacts of our business so we can develop strategies to maximize positive impacts while minimizing negative ones across stakeholders.The IngramMicroPlanetary team and program is a part of Ingram Micro’s IngramMicroESG organizationand is focused on managing Ingram Micro’s approach to various environmental sustainability topics, as well as driving toward achievement of Ingram Micro’s 10 to Zero goals to eliminate GHG emissions and waste from operations by 2030.

Your role:

The specific project for this intern is still in development but will likely include the following responsibilities relating to a specific topic such as energy, emissions, waste, water or packaging:
• Conduct research on a specific issue/topic, including reviewing standards and frameworks such as the GHG Protocol, Global Reporting Initiative, CDP climate questionnaire or CSRD European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
• Review best practices from other leaders, industry competitors and value chain partners (vendors/customers).
• Assess applicability/materiality to Ingram Micro and feasibility of different options by liaising with relevant internal stakeholders.
• Recommend an approach for how Ingram Micro should approach an environmental topic, which may include management strategies and data tracking.
• Prepare a report and presentation with findings and recommendations.

What you bring to the role:
• Actively enrolled in an accredited college/university program, or recently graduated (within the last semester or quarter) from an accredited college/university program.
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or graduate degree in business, sustainability, environmental science or other related field
• Academic coursework relevant to today’s environmental sustainability topics
• Prior academic or professional experience supporting an organization’s environmental sustainability program
• Prior experience or exposure to the technology and /or logistics and transportation industries.
• Strong analytical, research, and communications skills
