Job Description

Climate Analytics gGmbH is seeking a Student Assistant for its Climate Diplomacy Team in Berlin. The role involves supporting research on climate negotiations, reviewing submissions, and assisting in project management related to Small Island Developing States and Least Developed Countries. Candidates should have strong research skills, an interest in climate issues, and excellent English communication abilities. The Climate Diplomacy Team provides strategic, technical and real-time negotiations support and capacity building to Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Least Developed Countries (LDCs) in international climate fora including the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Paris Agreement and Green Climate Fund. The demand-driven support includes advising AOSIS and LDC Group Chairs, UN Ambassadors, Ministers and climate negotiators, combined with the provision of reports and briefings underpinned by diplomacy thought leadership, the latest climate science and policy analysis. With the team embedded in the SIDS and LDC regions, the organisation also works with regional partners and networks to indigenise the Paris Agreement and enable its implementation in line with regional priorities.

Job Description

Climate Analytics GmbH is currently seeking a Student Assistant for the organisations international and diverse Climate Diplomacy Team to provide research and related support to the organisations work with SIDS and LDCs.

Your Responsibilities
• Supporting research and information synthesis on priority thematic areas in the international climate negotiations - for example, loss and damage, global stocktake, mitigation, finance, and adaptation.
• Reviewing and summarising submissions from Parties and non-Party stakeholders on topics relevant to the international climate agenda in 2023
• Assisting work related to supporting SIDS and LDCs in Paris Agreement implementation (e.g. reporting requirements and lessons learned under the Enhanced Transparency Framework)
• Supporting the Climate Diplomacy Team project manager with logistical and travel coordination needs for inter-sessional climate meetings and negotiation sessions (Bonn SBs, COP28)

Your Profile
• Excellent research skills and ability to synthesise information into clear and useable formats
• Strong interest in international climate change issues
• Highly organised, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
• A well-developed sense for teamwork and the ability to interact with a diverse array of people
• Experience in project management and travel coordination is an advantage
• The organisations working language is English, therefore excellent English writing and verbal skills are required.
