Job Description

American Battery Technology Company is seeking a Strategic Deals Manager for its Reno, NV facility. The role involves developing and executing strategic agreements related to lithium-ion battery recycling, collaborating with various internal teams, managing deal approvals, and enhancing operational processes. Responsibilities include contract negotiations, relationship building with suppliers, and utilizing data to drive improvements. OVERVIEW
American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) is an industry-leading battery metal and critical materials, technology development, and commercialization company. Our Pilot Plant will be the first integrated implementation of our multi-step processing train for the full mechanical processing, physical separations, chemical extractions, and production of commercial-scale battery metals that will be resold back into the battery manufacturing supply chain to enact a low-cost, low environmental impact, and domestically sourced closed-loop circular economy.

ABOUT THE JOB
ABTC’s first commercial production facility recycles lithium-ion batteries (LiBs) of all kinds. As ABTC’s Strategic Deals Manager, you will develop, execute, and close some of ABTC’s first strategic agreements across a variety of different partnerships and Products - From end-of-life products (e.g., vehicles, consumer electronics) and manufacturing byproducts to supporting the successful operations of all our commercial production facilities.
In this role, you will develop contracts that will engage with supply channels across the lithium-ion battery supply chain in North America. You will build relationships internally with Sourcing, Legal, Manufacturing, and engineering to key suppliers within the automotive, energy storage, waste management, and battery manufacturing sectors on new product initiatives and key strategic relationships supporting our business objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Develop strong collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including in Sales, Legal. Pricing, Product, Order Management, and Finance
· Maximize deal execution by leading, providing guidance, and support on contract negotiations (deal structure, discounting guidance, contract terms, review)
· Develop, track and manage our process for deal approvals, thresholds and rules, approver roles and responsibilities, approval routing and workflow design, and communications.
· Define and manage the internal workflows involved with the approval process of non-standard deals and actively collaborate with multiple departments to gather inputs for the deal.
· Define key deal metrics and track deal data. Use business intelligence and leverage data to understand what's working and what's not, reporting on trends, risks, and areas for the business to improve on and working with cross-functional teams to implement changes
· Understand the market and competitive landscape and provide feedback to internal teams to enhance our products and drive improvements to our bundling, packaging, and pricing.
· Provide regular training to ensure they understand the value proposition of our product and how best to position and sell our product to customers using pricing, bundling, and packaging tactics.
· Manage RFP intake process to provide timely and strategic responses to customer’s RFI and RFP requests
· Identify systematic operational process improvements in ABTC's systems with other cross-functional teams and work closely with them to define, design, and deploy enhancements.
· Maintain velocity and compliance for overall deal flow making sure contracts are complete, accurate, and adhere to our policies.
· Originate, build, and maintain relationships with ABTC’s lithium-ion battery feedstock suppliers in North America.
· Identify sources of LiB materials within the EV, mobility, consumer electronics, ESS, and waste management sectors.
· Develop novel procurement strategies and target pricing for each sector of LiB form factor, chemistry type, etc.
· Execute procurement and account strategies as directed by management, in accordance with corporate goals; with a particular focus on securing lithium battery materials for ABTC’s Recycling Plant.
· Support the implementation of reverse supply chain services for lithium-ion battery materials.
· Work closely with external customers and partners, and internally to develop and maintain technical relationships with customers; understand customer’s product strategy, requirements, and constraints; match products and solutions to customer’s needs; resolve technical questions and issues.
· Develop long-term relationships with key supplier decision-makers; develop a complete understanding of the organization’s structure and key buying influences of the assigned account.
· Travel to various supplier locations to develop appropriate procurement and reverse supply chain solutions.
· Receive and follow up on various leads from trade shows or other sources; prospect, identify and prioritize to make contact, answer questions, and provide requested information.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum required qualifications:
· 5+ years experience in a procurement or related function
· Experience working in a fast-paced company driving cross-functional collaboration. Prior experience at a high-growth start-up is a plus.
· Experience in the electric vehicle supply chain and/or lithium-ion battery supply chain
· Interest in building and maintaining supplier partnership relationships and procurement strategy development
· Advanced technical degree and/or MBA preferred. Comfort with numbers is a must.
· Demonstrate the ability to go “above and beyond.”
· Strong collaboration and communication skills, including proven experience communicating effectively with senior leadership
· Good problem-solving skills along with “common sense” to address issues and drive impact
· Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Ability to stand for prolonged periods of up to 6 hrs. a day.
· Ability to walk throughout the plant. Ability to bend at the waist.
· Ability to lift unassisted 50lbs and assisted over 50 lbs.+ assisted. Climbing stairs and ladders (1) limited
· Ability to wear PPE which includes but not limited to the following: eye and face protection, Hearing Protection, Respirators, and protective shoes and coverings.
· Must have 20/20 or corrected vision.
· Ability to perform repetitive duties.
· Ability to work in environments that may include exposure to noise, dust, and chemicals for extended periods of time.
