STAFF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST / STAFF ENGINEER
Broadbent & Associates, Inc. (Broadbent) of Phoenix, Arizona is looking to hire an organized full‑time Staff Environmental Scientist / Staff Engineer to work with a wide variety of environmental projects. This staff engineer/scientist position earns a competitive salary, depending on experience. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A STAFF GEOLOGIST/SCIENTIST
As a Staff Scientist / Staff Engineer, you are the backbone of Broadbent. Your hard work ensures that we deliver for our clients. Under the supervision of the Phoenix Office Manager, you provide support on a range of environmental projects including water & wastewater monitoring and operations; emergency response; Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments; soil and groundwater characterization; air sampling; remediation system operation and maintenance; lithologic logging and well construction monitoring; biological surveys and water resources activities. You conduct field work to drive project execution and ensure that appropriate health and safety procedures are being followed.
Your people skills are essential as you interact regularly with local clientele and contractors. Though you do spend a lot of time at the job sites and interacting with people, you also make sure to keep up on all your administrative responsibilities. You provide accurate data to our Senior and Associate Scientists and prepare daily reports. Ensuring that clients are happy as well as that all jobs are delivered on‑time, within the scope, and on‑budget gives you a great sense of accomplishment!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A STAFF GEOLOGIST / STAFF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST / STAFF ENGINEER
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering
• Zero to two years of environmental‑related work experience
• Ability to work outdoors, traverse moderate terrain and lift up to 50 pounds
• Technical writing competency
• Strong technical and computer skills
• Self‑starter, quick learner and effective communication skills
• Ability to travel
• Ability to work individually and as part of a team
• GIS experience a plus

STAFF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST / STAFF ENGINEER WORK SCHEDULE
This full‑time Staff Engineer/Scientist position typically works Monday - Friday with some traveling (2 - 5 days away from the office for key projects) and some weekend work. Extended deployments for emergency response are possible for up to two to three weeks, but they are on a voluntary basis.
