Job Description
ING is seeking a Global Sustainability Stakeholder Engagement Consultant for a hybrid role in Amsterdam. The consultant will coordinate sustainability advocacy efforts, engage with external stakeholders, and support ING's ESG commitments. Strong project management and knowledge of EU regulations are essential. The position is part of a team focused on integrating sustainability into banking operations and influencing positive environmental and social impacts.

Role Summary: In this assignment, you will help structure, shape and coordinate ING’s sustainability (ESG) public advocacy efforts, with an emphasis on climate. Next to that, you will get an opportunity to contribute to our external stakeholder engagement activities, including intel gathering and tracking ING’s sustainability commitments.
Reporting to the head of stakeholder engagement, you will work with colleagues across the bank, from our own team, WB SSG and sustainability SPOCs in the Retail and Business Banking organisation to SuPRA and Communications. External stakeholders include UN agencies, sustainability expert organisations and consultancies.
This assignment requires strong project management skills paired with solid knowledge of the EU political & regulatory landscape and experience in stakeholder engagement or public affairs. Persistence, a can-do-attitude and diplomatic skills are key to success.

The Global Sustainability Department
The Global Sustainability (GS) Department reports directly to the CEO, and oversees the Sustainability Direction of ING Group globally, including strategies to support the sustainability journeys of our customers, our community, and our colleagues.
Our team of consultants integrate sustainability within our banking operations worldwide, across Retail, Business Banking and Wholesale Banking markets, and cover advice and programme management across the full range of sustainability (ESG) objectives. ING has been recognised as one of the most sustainable banks in the world for our contributions to progressing action on key global challenges such as climate change.
The team is committed to setting the standard for ING’s sustainability performance and raising the bar for our peers, the sectors we’re active in and other stakeholders. We collaborate with all ING business lines, domains and countries. We encourage and help educate our colleagues and actively engage with external stakeholders to create a ripple effect on sustainability impact.
We are team of 36 people with diverse perspectives stemming from different backgrounds with regard to nationalities, gender, work experience, education and age.
Assignment & Responsibilities
• Contribute to the strategic approach, structured framework and practical roadmap for ING’s priority sustainability (ESG) advocacy efforts.
• Help drive the implementation of this roadmap, including the coordination of cross-departmental (climate) advocacy alignment.
• Deliver on a rolling calendar, up-to-date overview of key advocacy messages and external memberships / network to leverage these messages.
• Ensure the tracking of ING’s sustainability commitments in collaboration with country sustainability SPOCs and Compliance.
• Support the delivery of a structured approach of intel gathering on sustainability developments, including tooling.
Profile
• Relevant Master’s degree (e.g. Political Science, International Relations, European Studies, Law, or a related field) and/or relevant experience in the field of advocacy, public affairs or stakeholder engagement.
• Proven project management skills.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to analyse complex (policy) issues and translate these into clear, succinct briefs.
• Strong collaborator, diplomatic, ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment.
• Fluent in business English (spoken and written).
