Job Description
The International Forum for Environment, Sustainability & Technology (iFOREST) is hiring for Sr. Programme Associate and Programme Associate roles focused on Industrial Decarbonisation in the steel sector. Candidates should have 5-10 years of relevant experience in research or technology strategy. The positions are based in New Delhi and involve supporting the Ministry of Steel's initiatives, project management, and stakeholder engagement. Contract duration is 12 months, extendable.
The International Forum for Environment, Sustainability & Technology (iFOREST) is seeking Consultants to support the Ministry of Steel in the implementation of the Steel Research and Technology Mission of India (SRTMI).
We are looking for professionals with 5 to 10 years of experience in research, R&D, innovation management, or technology strategy within the steel sector or closely related industries.
About the Programme
The Industrial Transition (or Industrial Decarbonization) programme is a part of iFOREST’s flagship initiative on Just Transition. The objective of the programme is to steer a green industry transition to support green growth and green jobs, while improving local environmental conditions and achieving climate goals.
Position:
• Sr. Programme Associate – Industrial Decabonisation (Steel)
• Programme Associate – Industrial Decabonisation (Steel)
Location: New Delhi (Ministry of Steel)
Duration: 12 Months Contract (extendable based on the project needs)
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide strategic support to MoSteel SRTMI scheme.
• Provide research and technical advisory to partner on aspects of including green steel, high-performance steel, and AI-driven digitalization.
• Support in identifying potential organizations (steel producers, academia, MSMEs start-ups etc.) in the steel sector to partner with MoSteel under SRTMI scheme.
• Enable agreements/MoUs between MoSteel and other organisations under SRTMI scheme.
• Evaluate proposals, concept proposals, funding requirements etc, and provide allied procurement support to MoSteel
• Oversee implementation of pilot projects and long-term engagements between MoSteel and associated parties/service providers.
• Assist in structuring financial models for funding/co-funding mechanisms between for scheme components.
• Oversee monitoring and evaluation support; Track progress of funded projects, ensuring alignment with sustainability goals and operational excellence.
• Provide periodic reporting and recommendations to enhance project outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, management or a related field.
Experience
• For Programme Associate: 5 – 7 years relevant experience in research, R&D and innovation management, and/or technology strategy in the steel or closely related sector
• For Sr. Programme Associate: 8 – 10 years of experience in research, R&D and innovation management, and/or technology strategy in the steel or closely related sector.
• Strong understanding of the Indian and global steel sector, sustainability in steel production, startup ecosystems, R&D funding mechanisms, new trends in sector including; industry 4.0, AI/ML applications, green steel, and resource efficiency in steel etc.
• Experience in government consulting, policy implementation, or innovation management preferred.
• Strong experience in project planning and management, stakeholder engagement, and policy advisory to government agencies.
