About the position
As a Senior Import Specialist at Green Worldwide Shipping, you will play a pivotal role in managing the import process from start to finish. This position is not just about clerical tasks; it involves taking ownership of consignments, making critical decisions related to airfreight and ocean imports, and negotiating with steamship lines, domestic carriers, and airlines to ensure an exceptional shipping experience for clients. Your ability to communicate clearly and effectively will be essential in building and maintaining relationships with clients, agents, vendors, and colleagues. In this role, you will evaluate market opportunities to provide best-in-class transport solutions tailored to each customer's needs. You will engage in rate negotiations that maximize profitability while delivering value to customers. Additionally, you will prepare and coordinate the necessary documentation to ensure the lawful and efficient execution of import activities. Attention to detail is crucial, as you will be responsible for providing accurate shipping instructions to overseas partners and clients. Responsibilities
• Manage airfreight and ocean import related decision-making.

• Negotiate with steamship lines, domestic carriers, and airlines to enhance client shipping experiences.

• Evaluate market opportunities to provide best-in-class transport solutions.

• Engage in rate negotiations to maximize profitability and deliver value to customers.

• Prepare and coordinate necessary documentation for lawful execution of import activities.

• Provide outstanding service to clients, agents, vendors, and colleagues.

• Communicate shipping instructions clearly to overseas partners and clients.

• Pay attention to detail and ensure accuracy in all tasks.

• Mentor team members and share industry knowledge and experience.
Requirements
• 4-5 years of experience in imports, shipping, transportation, or related fields.

• Knowledge of ocean (FCL & LCL) imports handling is essential.
,
• Understanding of export Customs laws, practices, and procedures.
,
• Deep understanding of the shipping industry and rate negotiation opportunities.
,
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
,
• Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
,
• Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
,
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

• Aptitude for creativity and preference for working in small, collaborative teams.

• Knowledge of Cargo Wise operating system is a plus.
