Avangrid is seeking a Senior Director of Energy Management Performance in Portland, OR, with a salary range of $168,000 - $210,000. The role involves leading a team to provide KPIs and strategic insights, managing budgets, and ensuring accurate reporting for executive management. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree, 10+ years in energy trading, and experience in automated trading systems and the Energy Imbalance Market.
The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from: $168,000 - $210,000

Job Summary

The Senior Director of Energy Management Performance will play a pivotal role in leading a dynamic team that supports the Vice President of Asset and Energy Management (AEM). This position is instrumental in providing key performance indicators (KPIs), strategic insights, and comprehensive results that drive the organization’s success. The role is designed to consolidate essential energy management support functions under one cohesive team, encompassing Market Performance, Energy Imbalance Market and Balancing Authority, Asset and Energy Management Analysis, and Trading Meteorology.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the meticulous coordination of detailed reporting, thorough budget reviews, and in-depth variance analysis for Executive Management. This includes managing the monthly review of gross margin performance, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, and collaborating effectively with other departments to communicate results and identify key actions. Additionally, the role involves the analysis of new market initiatives, including the optimization of the Avangrid Balancing Authority, Day Ahead Optimization, and the evaluation of new products. The Senior Director will be expected to provide strategic oversight and leadership, driving continuous improvement, and innovation within the energy management domain.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead, manage, coordinate, and consolidate the annual budget for AEM.
• Provide oversight of asset gross margin and key performance indicators.
• Lead the process for AEM automation and key dashboard development.
• Responsible for monthly financial reporting to the VP of AEM.
• Maintain and present data required for prudent management of asset gross margin and key performance indicators.
• Create, maintain, and publish key trading positions and metrics for executive management.
• Review and analyze revenue and expenses for AEM and provide feedback to senior management.
• Interface with Quality, Compliance, and other key support groups.
• Support investment feasibility analysis and decision-making.
• Lead and participate in asset optimization strategy discussions.
• Handle ad-hoc data requests for Investor Relations and external reporting.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 10 years of experience in energy trading.
• Demonstrated experience in leading and managing teams.
• Knowledge of automated trading systems.
• Working knowledge of west power, east power, RECs, and Capacity markets.
• Experience in the Energy Imbalance Market.
• Experience in Trading Meteorology.
