Specialist, Environmental

Southern Company is seeking a Specialist, Environmental in Atlanta, GA to manage compliance programs related to environmental regulations, including air, water, and waste. Responsibilities include planning and reporting on environmental issues, managing permit applications, developing procedures, and overseeing budgets. The position requires managing environmental consultants and contractors and is a full-time role with a salary range of $49K–$79K per year.
Manage compliance program activities including planning, organizing, directing and reporting environmental and operational issues. Maintain and improve programs across all environmental media (air/water/waste) to comply with environmental regulations, permit requirements, internal policies and standards. Managing air permit application renewals, review of draft permits and assist in rolling out new permits to operations. Develop and write procedures and protocols based on environmental regulations that are relevant to Company operations and Business Units. Formulate and recommend the annual operating and capital budgets and track the budgets according to plan. Manage environmental consultants/contractors for as needed environmental support.
