Job Description

Deriva Energy Holdco I LLC is hiring a Solar Technician I for their North Rosamond Solar facility in Rosamond, CA. The role involves operational support, inverter maintenance, LOTO tasks, contractor oversight, and communication with the Remote Operations Center. Candidates must have strong electrical knowledge, the ability to read technical manuals, and meet specific physical requirements. Proximity to the site is required, and the position is not remote.
Job Description:

Overview

The Solar Technician I is primarily responsible for providing support to our North Rosamond Solar facility on a continual/on-demand basis. On occasion, the Solar Technician I will also support other nearby solar facilities in California.

Responsibilities
• Perform daily operational rounds and operations activities up to and including developing and implementing complex Lock-Out/Tag-Outs (LOTOs). This includes being competent to train to become LOTO desk qualified
• Perform inverter/array maintenance tasks
• Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks
• Perform all LOTO tasks needed for maintenance activities including research, development, isolation, independent verification, zero energy verification and work leader duties
• Perform contractor oversight duties
• Communicate with the Remote Operations Center regarding daily plant/equipment status and maintenance
• Perform rotational on-call duties
• Perform record keeping duties concerning Environmental, Health & Safety records, spread sheets and documents
• Ability to read and understand technical OEM manuals, recommendations, and warranty agreements
• Must have strong instrumentation, electrical/electronic controls knowledge to troubleshoot, maintain and operate a photovoltaic solar plant
• New hires must be able to become proficient in the required skills to be able to troubleshoot the varying technologies
• Ability to read and understand technical electrical, civil, and mechanical drawings
• General knowledge of high voltage equipment and ability to perform high voltage switching
• Prepare service reports for site visits, emergency repairs, equipment modifications and equipment improvement investigations.
• Ensure a safe, event free work environment by ensuring strict adherence to company protocols
• Enforce procedures and processes in accordance with site specific O&M standards and guidelines
• Develop and review site specific procedures

Specific Requirements
• This position contains a weight restriction of 275 pounds as an essential function of the job. The purpose of this restriction is to ensure that all weight rated equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner within maximum allowed weight loading
• Must live within approximate 45 miles of the assigned home site (North Rosamond Solar)
• Capable of passing background check for NERC CIP
• Must successfully complete physical abilities assessment
• Valid driver's license

Required/ Basic Qualifications
• High School/GED.
• Ability to complete Level I job performance measures (Solar Tech I and Electrical Operator I).

Desired Qualifications
• Strong background in electrical and electronic equipment troubleshooting and repair
• Must possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively direct owner and contract company associates
• Must possess good oral and written communication skills
• Must be able to demonstrate problem solving ability
• Must be motivated to work independently
• Must have strong organization skills
• Must have experience using electrical test and measurement equipment
• Ability to troubleshoot from schematics
• Solid working knowledge of various measurement techniques
• Experience with inverter controls/maintenance and photovoltaic system functionality
• Experience with PLC controls and computer networking
• Working knowledge of power distribution systems
• Electrical design experience
• Maximo CMMS experience
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
• Knowledge of general safety and environmental practices

Pay: Starting at $23.56/hr

Working Conditions
• Generally a 5-8s schedule with rotating on-call/call-out requirements
• Occasional overtime, including weekend work and holidays.
• Exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF)
• Routine exposure to an outdoor work environment
• Be able or work alone, as well as in a team environment
• Will sit and stand for long periods of time during the day
• Will walk, climb stairs, and climb on equipment platforms
• May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist.
• May lift up to 50 lbs
• Required to use hands to lift, handle, carry or feel objects
• May stoop, kneel, and bend
• Specific vision abilities are required
• Ability to work in high temperatures (85+ Degrees Fahrenheit) with arc flash clothing that is typically thick and can increase heat exposure
• At the direction of the manager, travel to support other nearby solar facilities may be required
