Lead Service Technician

Position: Solar Service Technician
Position Summary
This is a full-time position expected to work Monday-Friday with occasional Saturday work and is overtime eligible. Our technicians represent the Service Department in the field with a positive and respectful attitude while interacting with customers frequently. They are dispatched daily to troubleshoot and resolve a variety of different issues as well as perform standard maintenance on solar photovoltaic (electric), hot water, and pool heating systems. Technicians are expected to be able to work independently as well as part of a team and perform field work each day while maintaining detailed records of their site visits and turning in paperwork/other documentation promptly. Technicians are responsible for proper documentation of issues as it relates to insurance, warranty, and workmanship claims. Technicians are on their feet most of the day and often on roofs. This position reports to the Service Manager
Roles & Responsibilities
· Troubleshoot and resolve complex and nonroutine issues in the field
· Responsible for Operations & Maintenance activities associated with PV sites ranging from residential sized systems to 3MW plants
· Perform corrective, preventative, and emergency maintenance and operations on PV and ESS projects
· Perform commissioning tasks as required
· Troubleshoot and test electrical systems and confirm proper and safe operation
· Keep vehicle clean and stocked at all times
· Complete work orders and take picture documentation at all site visits and upload promptly to the storage program
· Demonstrate good oral communication and customer service skills in communicating details to customers
· Maintain a clean work area
· Maintain accurate records of timeclock and actions taken on each site
Requirements & Qualifications
· Trustworthy, dependable, and punctual
· Customer oriented
· Basic arithmetic skills
· OSHA 30 required
· NFPA 70E training preferred
· Journeyman electrician or comparable experience preferred
· Expertise in PV testing practices including insulation resistance testing, IV Curve tracing, and all standard NETA electrical testing
· Experience commissioning PV systems per ANSI standards and industry best pracices
· Able to follow safe work practices
· Minimum 3 years of experience with various electrical and construction projects
· Basic understanding of IT equipment
· Meticulous record-keeping ability
· NABCEP certifications increase compensation
· Strong writing skills
· Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Comfortable working on rooftops and experienced using various PFAS equipment
· Able and willing to work in the elements
· Works well both independently and on a team
· Valid driver's license with good driving record
· Reliable transportation to warehouse and/or jobsites
· Must possess basic hand tools
· Excellent troubleshooting skills
· Cell phone with internet access
· Occasional out-of-town work
· Technical experience in electric, plumbing, or adjacent field
· Demonstrated troubleshooting skills
· Demonstrated experience with installation and commissioning of SolarEdge technologies
· Demonstrated experience with installation and commissioning of battery backup systems including Tesla PW and FranklinWH
· OSHA-10 certification
· Solar construction experience is a plus
· NABCEP certifications increase compensation
· NETA certifications increase compensation
· Ability to pass a background and driving record check
