Overview
Kuby Renewable Energy Ltd is an Edmonton-based solar PV contracting company, with offices in Kamloops, BC, and Calgary, AB and Lethbridge, AB. Kuby Energy services Western and Northern Canada, providing full-service residential and commercial solar power and energy storage solutions. In this rapidly growing industry, Kuby is looking for someone with a strong desire to grow with us as a company and facilitate clean energy solutions across Canada.
Position Summary
The Solar PV Designers are responsible for designing solar PV systems, creating solar layouts, preparing proposals and estimates for potential clients, developing Single Line Diagram, and continuously improving procedures and practices through critical thinking and problem-solving. You will also be expected to perform other duties as required to support the smooth functioning of our solar PV projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Design solar PV systems: Collaborate with sales representatives, project managers and engineers to design efficient and effective solar PV systems.
• Analyzing energy requirements, determining optimal system configurations, and selecting appropriate solar equipment.
• Drafting: Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create accurate and detailed solar layouts, including panel placements, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications. Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Solar layouts: Develop comprehensive solar layouts that maximize energy production, account for shading and obstructions, and optimize system performance. Consider factors such as roof structure, orientation, and available space to create designs that are visually appealing and functional.
• Proposals / Estimates for potential clients: Prepare detailed proposals and estimates for potential clients, incorporating system design, equipment specifications, project timelines, and cost analysis. Communicate effectively with clients to address their specific needs and provide accurate and competitive pricing information.
• Single Line Diagrams (SLD's): Create Single Line Diagrams (SLD's) that illustrate the electrical connections and components of solar PV systems. Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and utility interconnection requirements.
• Improve procedures and practices: Continuously evaluate and enhance design and estimating procedures to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and quality. Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to overcome challenges and implement innovative solutions.
• Other duties as required.
Qualifications
• Knowledge of experiencewith designing Solar PV systems
• Ability to excel in a small team with minimal supervision.
• Working knowledge of computer programs (CAD, MS Excel, Word)
• Post-secondary degree or diploma
• Education in electrical engineering, and/or alternative energy programs.
• Experience with CAD drafting program.
