About the position

Whitman is currently seeking a Solar Project Design Engineer with 2-5 years of experience to support our Somerset, NJ Engineering Department. As a Solar Project Design Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of solar energy systems. The individual will work closely with clients, project managers, and construction teams to ensure the successful deployment of solar projects from conception through to completion. The role will include technical design, system modeling, and compliance with industry standards and regulations. In this position, you will develop detailed solar system designs, including photovoltaic (PV) panel layout, electrical schematics, and system integration. You will utilize design software such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Helioscope to create accurate system models and simulations. Your goal will be to optimize solar designs to maximize energy production and efficiency while minimizing costs. Additionally, you will ensure that all designs comply with local, state, and national regulations and standards, including building codes and interconnection requirements. You will provide technical support during the installation phase of solar projects and prepare and maintain detailed documentation for design processes, system specifications, and project reports. Staying updated with the latest advancements in solar technology and industry trends will be crucial, as you will be expected to recommend and implement improvements to design processes and system performance.

Requirements
