Solar Engineer – Renewable Energy Industry

OverviewRPO Recruitment’s client, a well-established renewable energy firm in South Africa specialising in the solar industry, is currently looking to hire a qualified and experienced Solar Engineer who can join their successful and growing team in Johannesburg as soon as possible.
ResponsibilitiesSolar installation designSelection of appropriate solar components (inverters, panels, batteries, etc.) based on technical and site-specific needsConduct site assessments and visitsOversee/conduct the commissioning of solar systems on site and remotelyDiagnose and resolve faults in solar PV systems, including issues related to inverters, wiring, solar panels, and battery systemsPresent design concepts to clients, providing technical explanations of solar system designs and product specificationsEnsure all designs comply with local regulations, electrical codes, and industry best practicesCollaboration with project teamsDocumentation and reportingProvide training to installation teamsRequirementsBachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related fieldProficiency in AutoCAD, PVSOL, Helioscope or similar softwareMinimum of 2 years of experience in solar PV system design, installations and commissioningProven experience in designing both residential and commercial solar systemsStrong understanding of solar PV system components and electrical design principlesExperience in fault finding and troubleshooting solar PV systemsKnowledge of local electrical codes and industry regulationsValid driver’s licenseWillingness to travel for site assessmentsBenefitsSalary: Negotiable depending on experience and qualifications
