Solar Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Solar Engineer to join our team in Mayer, AZ. This full-time position involves designing solar panel systems for single-family homes, commercial buildings, and water well pumps, as well as integrating systems into the local electrical grid. The ideal candidate will also have experience designing systems with EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) protection to ensure resilience in critical applications, along with construction management and participation for designed projects.
The Solar Engineer is responsible for all electrical and solar installation projects. Will work with permitting offices and electrical inspectors and will be responsible for completing electrical work in a code-compliant manner. Solar Engineer will also install all photovoltaic system components and electrical equipment, ensure successful operation of complete photovoltaic systems, and communicate project status with project managers and construction managers.

A Solar Engineer typically has a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
• EMP Protection: Design and integrate EMP shielding and mitigation measures into solar power systems.
• Ensure proper grid tie-in and compliance with local regulations
• Collaborate with contractors, electricians, and clients to optimize system performance
• Provide technical guidance and documentation for installations
• System Design & Engineering: Develop custom solar PV systems tailored to site conditions and energy needs.
• Grid Integration: Design and optimize grid-tied systems, ensuring compliance with local utility requirements.
• Site Assessments: Conduct feasibility studies, shade analyses, and load calculations.
• Technical Documentation: Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and permit packages.
• Project Collaboration: Work with installers, contractors, and utility providers to ensure seamless system implementation.
• Compliance & Standards: Stay up to date with industry regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
• Ability to plan large solar system installations from start to finish including; one line diagrams, load calculations, analyzing terrain, maximizing solar efficiency, voltage drop, wire and system sizing, etc.
• Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing large residential/commercial solar systems and associated equipment. (Responsible for physical installations such as connections, wiring, etc.)
• Experience installing, maintaining, and servicing solar batteries of various types
• Laying out, assembling, installing, testing, maintaining, servicing and repairing conduits, meters, panels, motors, lighting systems, fans, heaters, receptacles and various other electrical systems and components.
• Installing interior and exterior wiring for equipment, appliances, and various other pieces of machinery ranging from residential, commercial, and industrial.
• Bending and threading conduit to include installation of wire and cable
• A working knowledge of electrical codes
• Previous experience working with power/hand tools, electrical equipment, and the ability to navigate a job site
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and an acceptable and safe driving record.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in solar system design, engineering, and PV system design.
• Registered Engineer (PE) or relevant certifications in solar/renewable energy, or industry certifications (NABCEP, SEI, etc.).
• Experience designing EMP-protected solar systems is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of electrical design, PV systems, and grid interconnection, NEC codes, and interconnection requirements.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in construction management or hands-on solar system installation.
• Familiarity with permitting and local utility requirements, battery storage solutions and off-grid systems is a plus.
• Proficiency in solar design software (AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar)
• Experience with solar design software (AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar).
• Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
• Must be bilingual - English and Spanish
• Hold an AZ ROC R-11 or C-11 Residential or Commercial Electrical License

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
