Senior Solar Electrical Engineer (Interconnection Focus)

Role Description
• As a Senior Solar Electrical Engineer with a focus on interconnection, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the interconnection process for solar energy projects.
• Your expertise in electrical engineering, grid integration, and regulatory compliance will be crucial in ensuring the successful and efficient connection of solar systems to the electrical grid.
• You will collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and utility companies to navigate the interconnection process, resolve technical challenges, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Responsibilities
• Lead the interconnection process for solar energy projects, working closely with project managers, contractors, and utility companies.
• Conduct feasibility studies and assess grid connection requirements for solar projects, considering factors such as grid capacity, voltage stability, and system performance.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams to design and optimize solar systems for seamless integration with the electrical grid.
• Prepare and submit interconnection applications, ensuring compliance with utility company requirements, local regulations, and grid codes.
• Coordinate with utility companies to obtain necessary approvals, permits, and agreements for interconnection.
• Perform technical studies and analysis to evaluate system impacts, including power quality, voltage regulation, and fault analysis.
• Develop and implement strategies to mitigate potential grid integration challenges and optimize system performance.
• Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, contractors, and stakeholders throughout the interconnection process.
• Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and grid integration standards to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for innovation.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Extensive experience in solar energy projects, with a strong focus on interconnection and grid integration.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical grid systems, utility interconnection processes, and relevant regulations (e.g., IEEE 1547, NEC, utility tariffs).
• Proficiency in electrical system modeling and analysis software (e.g., PSS/E, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve technical challenges during the interconnection process.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and utility companies.
• Project management experience and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
