Our client, a global leader in renewable energy, with solar and wind projects across Africa, is seeking a Solar Design Engineer to join their team. This is not just another design engineer role – it offers the unique opportunity to lead and take ownership od the design and development of utility-scale solar PV systems and work with an international team, and key stakeholders, including EPC contractors and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead technical discussions with EPC contractors and component suppliers, guiding equipment selection to meet project timelines and budgets while ensuring quality
• Develop detailed design packages, including solar array layouts, electrical one-lines, collection systems, and Bill of Quantities (BOQs)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize energy yield, cost efficiency, and system performance
• Conduct energy yield modeling using tools like PVsyst and perform LCoE (Levelized Cost of Energy) analysis to evaluate system configurations and technologies for cost-effectiveness
• Perform site visits to gather essential data, identify optimization opportunities, and ensure technical integrity in the design process

Qualifications:
• 6+ years of experience in solar PV design, specifically with large-scale utility projects (50MW+)
• Strong technical knowledge in developing electrical layouts, array configurations, and integrating energy storage systems
• Expertise in energy yield modeling and LCoE analysis, with a focus on optimizing system efficiency and cost reduction
• Proven ability to manage design processes from early-stage development to project completion, ensuring quality and adherence to timelines and budgets
• Ability to work collaboratively with international teams and key stakeholders, including EPC contractors and suppliers
