Position Overview
As part of our dedicated team, the Solar Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and planning solar energy systems for residential and commercial clients. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, creativity, and customer service to ensure each project meets our clients’ energy needs and expectations. The Solar Design Engineer will work closely with the project management and installation teams to deliver efficient, effective solar solutions.
What you’ll do:
Design and engineer solar energy systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
Perform site evaluations, system sizing, and electrical load calculations to determine the optimal solar solution.
Collaborate with project management teams to create accurate installation plans and schedules.
Develop proposals, including cost estimates, system designs, and energy production projections.
Ensure that designs comply with local codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.
Communicate effectively with clients to explain system benefits, installation processes, and maintenance needs.
Utilize design software and tools to create detailed layouts and schematics for solar installations.
Provide technical support to the installation team and troubleshoot any design-related issues during installation.
Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and new technologies to enhance design capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
Experience with solar design software (e.g., Helioscope, PVsyst, AutoCAD).
Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) and local solar regulations.
Previous experience in the solar industry is highly preferred.
