Solar Design Engineer - Exciting Opportunity with a Leading Renewable Energy Company!
Are you a skilled Solar Design Engineer looking to join a forward-thinking company driving the UK's transition to renewable energy? I’m recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly respected renewable energy firm that specializes in designing and installing solar PV systems for commercial, industrial, and large-scale applications. With a track record of successful projects, this company is at the forefront of innovation in the sector.
About the Role:
As a Solar Design Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and optimizing roof-mounted and ground-mount PV systems. This position requires expertise in electrical engineering, solar design software, and regulatory compliance. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-performing solar solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
-Design and develop solar PV and battery storage systems
-Conduct technical analysis, system simulations, and energy yield assessments
-Oversee projects from concept to commissioning, ensuring timelines and budgets are met
-Ensure compliance with grid regulations, planning approvals, and industry standards
-Collaborate with engineering teams, manufacturers, and contractors for seamless execution
-Produce detailed technical drawings (block plans, string designs, electrical schematics, and inverter simulations)
-Solve complex engineering challenges to optimize system performance
-Implement quality control measures to uphold high standards
-Prepare engineering reports, documentation, and as-built drawings
Requirements:
-Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field
-3+ years of experience in solar project design and engineering
-Strong knowledge of commercial and utility-scale PV systems
-Proficiency in PV design software (PV*Sol, PVsyst, Helioscope), AutoCAD, QGIS, and MS Suite
-Understanding of grid integration and industry regulations
-Full UK driving license (max 3 points)
