Solar Crew Lead (Electrician or 3rd year apprentice)

Are you a Red Seal Construction Electrician or 3rd year apprentice looking for your next challenge? Look no further! We're seeking an Electrician to spearhead our rooftop and ground solar system connections and oversee all aspects of our residential and commercial electrical and service work, including leading a team of installers. No prior Solar experience? Not a problem! You'll receive top-notch training from our experienced electricians at Sunly Head Office, who boast thousands of successful installations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Head of Construction duties include, but are not limited to:
• Planning, laying out, assembling, installing, testing, and troubleshooting solar panels systems and inverters.
• Planning, laying out, assembling, installing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices, and related equipment in buildings and other structures.
• Lead and motivate a team of solar installers, providing guidance and direction
• Collaborating with the local utility companies, and inspectors to ensure installations meet or exceed all standards and expectations.
• Installing and terminating conduit wire, cable, equipment, panels, sensors, and various control components and monitoring devices.
• Helping our head of construction with panel swaps and providing service upgrades, including the installation of EV chargers.
• Ensuring compliance with electrical codes and specifications, avoiding unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring.
• Activating, testing, and troubleshooting systems to ensure optimal operation and performance.
• Providing input into system design, installation, and coordination, and participating in initial handover teams to plan jobs effectively.
• Maintaining a tidy work area, minimizing waste, and ensuring adequate inventory of consumables and equipment.
• Conducting site inspections as needed and performing any other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
• Red Seal Electrician Certification or 3rd year apprentice certification
• Comfortable working at heights, on a roof, using ladders, or climbing when necessary
• Clear criminal record check.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driver's abstract.
• Residential electrical experience and strong familiarity with electrical codes and best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
• Solar experience is an asset.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a positive attitude with a willingness to learn and improve continuously.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs+ repeatedly;
• Able to work in an open, outdoor work environment for extended periods of time, exposed to all weather conditions;
• Ability to work at heights, on a roof, using ladders or climbing when necessary
• Flexible schedule, designated start time but no assigned end time as lengths of days vary by location and project;

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
