McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking a full-time Solar CDL A Driver for the construction of a solar facility located in West Monroe, Louisiana. This position is crucial for the safe and successful transportation of equipment and materials to McCarthy's Renewable Energy job sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, be accustomed to working outdoors, and be available for a full-time schedule. The Solar CDL Driver will be responsible for operating a combination of vehicles with a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 pounds or more, ensuring that all equipment functions properly and safely, and transporting materials in a safe manner to support the construction of utility-scale solar projects. The role requires the driver to maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions throughout the job site safely, operate effectively on rough terrain and unpaved surfaces, and conduct basic equipment repairs. The driver must recognize hazards and danger zones, ensure equipment is safely stored when not in use, and coordinate with crew members using hand and audio signals. Additionally, the driver will need to plan routes for transportation and understand how to secure loads properly. This position is integral to maintaining a safety-first mindset and ensuring that all operations comply with traffic laws and job site safety protocols.

Responsibilities
• Operate/maneuver a combination of vehicles with a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 pounds or more.

• Conduct daily checks to ensure equipment functions properly and safely.

• Transport material in a safe manner in a local area to support construction of the utility scale solar project.

• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions throughout the jobsite safely.

• Operate effectively on rough terrain/unpaved surfaces.

• Clean, maintain and conduct basic equipment repairs.
,
• Recognize hazards and danger zones.
,
• Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored when not in use.
,
• Coordinate with crew members in response to hand and/or audio signals.
,
• Understand how to secure the load with the proper type of binders for the applicable load.
,
• Plan the route which the vehicle would need to take.
,
• Understand and follow hand signals that may be given for a vehicle backing into tight areas.

• Perform all other duties assigned by site leadership.

Requirements
• Must have up to date CDL A Certification.

• Must have a current medical card.

• Maintain N and/or P Endorsements as required per jobsite functions.

• Thorough knowledge of equipment and safety processes used in large construction sites.

• Understand logistics and traffic control plans.

• Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and leadership within the team.

• Ability to perform heavy lifting, pushing, pulling of material weighing 50 lbs.

• Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage.

• Ability to squat, crawl and work in awkward positions and confined spaces.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

• Unrestricted use of hands, arms, shoulders, upper/lower back, visual acuity, depth and color perception.
