Aditya Birla Renewables Limited is seeking a Solar AC Design Engineer in Mumbai, India, with 6-10 years of experience in Solar/ISTS projects. The role involves designing and engineering Solar AC systems, preparing preliminary designs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with various engineering disciplines. Responsibilities include creating detailed design reports, layouts, and managing procurement activities, while ensuring adherence to codes and standards.

Job Purpose

We are looking for Solar AC Design Engineer for Renewables Projects (ISTS/ Captive), who has expertise in Design & Engineering of Solar AC domain (experience of 6– 10 yrs. in Solar/ ISTS projects) with good understanding of overall PV Plant.

Principal Accountabilities

Basic Engg.
• Understand and carry out Preliminary & Basic design of Solar AC package for Renewables engineering package.
• Understanding the overall project scope and deliverables design & engineering pertaining to PV Plant..
• In-depth knowledge of design and detailing of Solar AC side.
• Preparation of RFP for entire PV Plant.
• Preparing Preliminary design, single line diagram, layout- Plan & Section, AC & DC SLD etc.
• Exposure in Ground Mounted Solar PV farms with min 300MW capacity.
• Have good understanding in Inverter technology, can optimize with selection of Central or string inverter.
• Preparing Detail Design Report and sizing calculation of transformer, all type of cables, conductors, battery charger and battery, UPS, earthing system, lightning protections, metering and protection system (CT, PT, LA, Isolators etc.), Illumination, fire detectors as per latest IS, IEC and IEEE codes and standards.
• Preparation of MV/LV schemes, control room and plant layout as per finalized SLD and design report documents. This basically includes preparation of constructional drawings such as PV Plant, electrical equipment general arrangement layout, cable trench, cable routing, earthing, lightning protection, fire safety, illumination, security and vigilance, ventilation for inverter control room etc. layouts. Further this includes preparation of detail bill of quantities (BOQ) for assisting client procurement related activities.
• Having knowledge and understanding of EHV substation is an added advantage.

Regulatory Compliance:
• Ensure Solar PV Plant engineering designs comply with local, state, and CTU regulations and codes.
• Collaborate with regulatory authorities to secure necessary permits and approvals for construction by preparing submitting relevant drawings.
• Can understand the Grid Compliance requirement and oversee the challenges and mitigation plan.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with AC & DC electrical, civil, structural, and other engineering disciplines to integrate Solar AC electrical designs seamlessly into the overall project.
• Can coordinate with Land team, DC team and Civil team for ICR, MCR, MV cable routing and configuration.
• Collaborate with project management to coordinate interdisciplinary efforts and address any challenges that may arise.
• Preparation of al Electrical SOP’s for adherence by project/ construction team.
• Support SCM for procurement support activities which essentially include preparations of Material Requisition/Specifications, review of Vendor offer and Technical Queries, pre-order Vendor discussions and Technical Bid Analysis. During post order activity includesmVendor document review as Inverters, Power Transformer, Circuit Breaker, MV
• Switchboard, Inverter Transformer, Cables, Isolator, CT, PT, LA, conductor, insulator, termination kit, battery and battery charger, UPS, NIFPS
• Carry out Inspection of various Electrical Equipment at manufacturer’s scope includes equipment’s like Inverters, Inverter duty transformers, power transformer, HV Switchgear panel, ACDB etc. Further site visits to check quality of work as per construction drawing of electrical system.

Quality Assurance
• Implement and oversee quality assurance processes for PV farm engineering deliverables, ensuring designs meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
• Conduct regular reviews and audits to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Project Oversight
• Assist in Project Planning, scheduling and budgeting for Solar Plant engineering activities.
• Monitor Project progress, identify potential risks and implement strategies to mitigate issues.
