Position Specific Description

NextEra Analytics is seeking an experienced full-stack software development engineer to join our New Product Engineering team. Our SDEs work in a fast-paced environment alongside data and research scientists to help NEA provide innovative forecasting and optimization solutions for the energy industry. Engineers contribute to all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements gathering and refinement, system design, implementation, and testing. Our engineering team is encouraged to use a technical stack that aligns best with the problems they are trying to solve. Recent projects have included AWS serverless, Grafana, TimescaleDB, Vue 3, and Python or Rust. An ideal candidate will be a continuous learner who embraces change and has a desire to create the best solutions possible with the latest technologies available. The candidate should possess the ability to lead small project teams and mentor less-experienced team members. NEA follows an onsite work schedule, with teams collaborating in-person in the St. Paul office.
Job Overview

This position writes and tests software to aid in development and support of products. Individuals in this role work with Technical Leads on software system architecture and module design. This position participates in required product development process ceremonies. Employees in this role are responsible for writing and refining technical requirements and technical design documentation.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Works with other NextEra Energy teams and customers to develop and deliver industry-leading technology solutions to complex challenges
• Codes in multiple languages in support and development of software products, most recently Python and
• Conducts system testing and creates unit tests for new and existing features
• Writes documentation for technical requirements and system architecture
• Participates in agile ceremonies with the product team, including refining product requirements, providing estimates on work, daily standups, and post-sprint reviews and retrospectives
• Collaborates on high level software design projects and software system architecture and creates effective component level architectures
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
• Experience: 4+ years
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
• Involvement in system design and architecture of software systems
• Excellent communication with technical and product colleagues
• One or more years of recent Python and/or Vue/Angular/React experience
• Familiarity of cloud computing, primarily AWS
• Exposure to CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code processes
