The Society for Experiential Graphic Design is hiring a Senior Exhibit Designer responsible for leading the design and production of exhibitions at the Museum of Natural Sciences. The role includes project planning, graphic design, and supervising a team. Candidates should have experience in graphic design, large-format printing, and project management. The position allows for remote work up to 2 days per week and requires availability Monday to Friday.

The posting will close on April 16 at 5pm ET.Apply HerePrimary Purpose of Position:The Museum of Natural Sciences is seeking an experienced Senior Exhibit Designer who is responsible for leading exhibit designers through the development, design, production, installation, and evaluation of exhibitions. They are a hands-on leader who will participate in and oversee each project's design and production, coordinating closely between developers, fellow designers, digital media specialists, and fabricators to execute the project strategy, goals, and design direction. They possess a combination of exhibition knowledge, graphic production skills, leadership experience, design savvy, and creativity.Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Exhibit and environmental design for new and traveling exhibitions.Project planning, scheduling, and conceptual design development for new exhibition projects.Present and articulate design concepts and intent to internal and external stakeholders.Graphic design for exhibits, educational graphics, digital media, signage, and wayfinding.Large-format graphic printing, production, and installation.Supervise the work and creative output from the Exhibit Designer, Exhibit Graphic Designer, and interns.Oversee design direction and strategy in coordination with Head of Exhibits and Director of Exhibits.Position/Physical Requirements:Must be available to work Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm.Work from home is available up to 2 days per week.Must have the ability to climb and work on a ladder with or without reasonable accommodation as part of mounting and installation of graphic exhibit components.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:Demonstrated experience in graphic design, including digital layouts, illustration, image acquisition, and preparation of production files.Demonstrated experience in large-format printing, graphic production, fabrication, and installation.Experience leading or supervising designers.Demonstrative experience with drafting programs such as AutoCad, VectorWorks, Rhino, or Sketchup.Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator.Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.Management Prefers:Demonstrated experience in project management.Demonstrated experience producing concept drawings, sketches, models, plans, and/or elevations.Demonstrated experience presenting work to clients and project teams.Demonstrated experience in digital design, animation or motion graphics.Please contact the Director of Exhibits & Digital Media, Javan Sutton, with any questions at javan.sutton@naturalsciences.org.
