Job Description
Who Are CPP?
CPP is a leading high-voltage infrastructure provider, connecting renewable energy projects to Australia’s electricity grid.
As a member of Quanta Services, a Fortune 200 company, we specialise in the design, construction, commissioning, and maintenance of substations, transmission lines, wind farms, and battery storage systems.
Established in 1996, we’ve connected more wind farms and renewable batteries than any other company. With over 700 employees and offices in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, we partner with Australia’s major transmission providers to deliver innovative, end-to-end solutions.
Join us in shaping the future of energy.
Construction
CPP is Australia’s leading provider of end-to-end substation solutions for utilities and the renewable energy sector, delivering design, installation, and maintenance services up to 500kV. Specialising in both greenfield and brownfield projects, we have successfully delivered over 100 HV substations nationwide.
As the country’s most experienced contractor in Balance of Plant (BoP) services, we have connected more wind farms and battery storage systems (BESS) to the grid than any other provider. Our one-stop-shop approach covering design, civil, manufacturing, electrical works, grid connection, and commissioning, ensures seamless project delivery.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Site Manager to oversee the day-to-day construction works across our High Voltage infrastructure and associated renewable projects. As a key part of our construction team, you will work with the Project Manager and project teams to achieve successful completion and delivery of project work on site. You will manage site workers, contractors and the general day-to-day aspects of onsite construction.
The initial project you will be managing is the Orana BESS and Substation project, which will have a capacity of 415MW and provide 4 hours of energy storage. The Orana BESS will support capacity in the Central-Orana Renewable Energy Zone, occupying 10 hectares adjacent to the electricity grid and sharing a boundary with the Transgrid substation, which will reduce the need for HV power lines and visual impacts. Once this project is completed you will go on to work on other exciting renewable projects.
Responsibilities
• Ensuring the successful completion and execution of the project scope, whilst managing the onsite workers, personnel and contractors
• Support the management of the project in relation to the schedule and cost
• Quality assurance of the construction works
• Participate in project progress and close out meetings
• Control and oversee outage applications of the network to complete the scheduled scope or works
About You
Desired Skills and Experience
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Possess
• Electrical Licence
• Previous supervision experience in a substation environment, preferably on a Transgrid site
• Proven delivery experience in completing construction scopes within a project environment
• Demonstrated ability in leading a team and overseeing site works
• Outstanding communication skills with the ability to manage site personnel
• Knowledge and experience in safety supervision
