The Woodland Trust is hiring a Site Manager for Northern Ireland to oversee its sites, ensuring high conservation standards and safety for visitors and volunteers. The role involves managing relationships with stakeholders, leading woodland management projects, and conducting assessments. Candidates should have experience in forestry and land management. The Woodland Trust is looking for a Site Manager in our Northern Ireland team, to manage the Woodland Trust’s sites, to high professional standards, in accordance with our conservation principles, management approach, policies and contracts, contributing to the Trust’s strategic goals.
THE ROLE
• This is a key role in the Northern Ireland team to represent the Woodland Trust locally, managing a diverse portfolio of sites within Northern Ireland, in line with the Trust’s standards and ensuring the safety of our visitors, contractors and volunteers.
• The Site Manager will be responsible for building collaborative and impactful relationships with internal teams and external organisations, contractors, neighbours and interested parties, alongside managing groups of dedicated and passionate volunteers.
• Lead creative woodland management, ancient woodland restoration and people engagement projects, engaging stakeholders and being a strong advocate for our work and values.
• Carry out Woodland Condition/PAWS Assessments and monitoring to inform, write and implement long term management plans for the woods in the area of responsibility.
• A company car will be provided for this role.
THE CANDIDATE
• You have an enthusiasm for the environment and share our core values-Grow Together, Explore, Focus and Make it Count.
• You’ll have experience of working in Forestry, conservation or land management managing woodlands and sites of high conservation importance as well as engaging with a wide range of stakeholders including landowners, statutory and public bodies and local communities.
• You will have good general knowledge and experience of managing risk and Health & Safety requirements, H&S on sites, carrying out tree safety inspections and managing tree safety in accordance with H&S procedures.
• You will be able to demonstrate experience in leading the delivery of complex projects, managing contracts and contractors, including tendering through the procurement process.
• You will be familiar with and able to learn the use of new and established technology.
• Knowledge and experience working within areas including but not limited to forestry Stewardship Council certification, woodland ecology and legislative context.
• commercially aware and able to build effective partnerships internally and externally.
• The role is based in Northern Ireland and will require the successful candidate to travel across the Country. A full driving licence is required.
