The SFO Fellow - Energy and Carbon Analyst will report to the SFO’s Energy Program Manager, through which the Fellow will collect, analyze, and report upon SFO’s campus-wide, solar generation, building and transportation related (airside and landside) utility and performance data to ensure compliance with City, State, and Federal requirements and support campus-wide awareness and prioritization of operational efficiency projects.

Duties and responsibilities include:
• Identify, scope, and investigate energy performance improvement and carbon reduction opportunities spanning programs, policy, and projects.

Data types include but not limited to: electric vehicle charging, vehicle fuel consumption; vehicle miles traveled, on-site power generation; electricity and natural gas usage; energy savings calculations; grant requirement tracking; energy use intensity.
• Analyze, interpret, monitor, and summarize findings visually in charts, graphics, and infographics.
• Write clear and concise descriptions of data, methodology, and results for inclusion in reports, memos, and presentations.
• Present work through online and in-person presentations to project teams and staff.
• Facilitate stakeholder meetings; set agendas, create pre-read material, record meeting minutes, and distribute reference collateral for future use.
• Work independently and in collaboration with staff in Sustainability and other departments to accomplish objectives.
• Research applicability to SFO of new technologies, local/state/federal laws, grant opportunities, and communicate findings.
• Support greenhouse gas accounting using Airport Council International’s Airport Carbon Emissions Report Tool (ACERT) and industry best practices for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
• Engage with airlines and other airport tenants to collect Scope 3 emissions data, make recommendations for emissions reductions, and assist in implementation.
• Assist in additional airport sustainability initiatives as needed such as: capital project stakeholder meetings, waste characterizations and staff trainings, food donation program, Green Business certification and compliance, third-party rating systems reporting, Environmental Social Governance (ESG) reporting, campus tours and outreach events, requests from the public, and website updates.
• Perform other duties as assigned and those outlined in the 9910 Public Service Trainee classification.
