About the position

The Service Technician position at Atmos Energy's Louisiana Division is an entry-level role focused on customer service field operations for a natural gas distribution company. The technician will be responsible for various tasks including meter reading, service connections and disconnections, leak investigations, and the installation and repair of natural gas meters. This position requires on-the-job training and involves standby/callout duties for after-hours service calls.

Responsibilities
• Performs basic work using clearly prescribed procedures.

• Responds to customer requests for service including connections and disconnections as becomes operator qualified.
,
• Informs customer of needed repairs and answers basic questions. Ensures that customer understands and is satisfied with work completed.

• May disconnect service as necessary and perform collection efforts on delinquent accounts.
,
• Installs, programs, and operates Wireless Meter Reading (WMR) equipment as necessary.
,
• Assists with activities to ensure responsiveness to natural gas and other emergencies.
,
• Completes and maintains accurate records and reports to comply with Company and regulatory requirements.

• May read meters and record usage for billing.
,
• Identifies, addresses, and reports safety and encroachment issues to their resolution and completion.

• Demonstrates support for and adheres to the Company's values, strategies, policies and procedures.

Requirements
• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
,
• Must have a valid driver's license in accordance with Company standards.
,
• Ability to utilize the Company's internet/intranet web site for data entry and retrieval tasks.
,
• Requires the ability to communicate with internal/external customers.

Nice-to-haves
• Completion of assigned classes and Operator Qualifications (OQ) specific to Service Learning Path.

• Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures.
