Job Purpose

The NY Senior Sustainability Specialist is responsible for supporting the NY Director to drive achievement of National Grid’s sustainability goals. This role will ensure the business unit is positioned to deliver on these goals by embedding environmental Responsible Business Charter (RBC) commitments and ambitions into business operations, plans, and governance structures and fulfilling internal and external sustainability reporting and compliance needs.

Key Accountabilities

NY Sustainability Performance Management
• Be a GHG and Environmental Responsible Business metrics SME related to metrics, data and standards
• Responsible for calculating and distributing NY performance reporting updates on GHG emissions reductions performance compared to plans
• Support the management of the GHG inventory for the NY business by collecting and assessing data from across the business and calculating business-specific emissions by scope 1, 2, and 3
• Support external GHG reporting and compliance efforts (including but not limited to GRI, SASB, CDP Climate), US EPA and NY state GHG-related regulations
• Support environmental assurance process and collaborating with ESG Finance and the US Center of Excellence (CoE)

Sustainability Program & Project Management
• Provide rate case support
• Provide data and narrative/case studies for NG sustainability reporting​

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
• Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders (both external and internal).
• Promote a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and efficient resource utilization to meet project goals.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, business, sustainability, or a related field
• Experience with performance management (eg metrics, targets)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritize, plan, and coordinate competing priorities
• Ability to work effectively in a virtual working environment
• Experience with GHG Protocol and industry-standard GHG reporting forums is a plus

More Information

Salary: $111,000 - $130,000

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
