About the position

Brown and Caldwell is seeking a Senior Solid Waste Engineer to join their waste market sector team within the Private Sector Business Unit. This role involves working on a variety of projects related to solid waste management, recycling facilities, and waste disposal. The successful candidate will engage with clients, provide technical support, and lead project delivery while collaborating with a diverse team of professionals.

Responsibilities
• Provide technical support and project delivery for solid waste clients.
,
• Engage with clients and lead discussions regarding project activities.
,
• Prepare and review technical memoranda, reports, and electronic deliverables.
,
• Supervise and coordinate the work of others on projects, ensuring timely execution.
,
• Mentor junior staff members and assist in their professional development.
,
• Participate in quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes.
,
• Apply advanced technical skills to provide innovative solutions for environmental problems.
,
• Attend client project meetings and provide marketing support during project procurement.

Requirements
• BS Degree in Engineering or Science (Civil, Environmental, or related field) required; MS degree preferred.

• A minimum of 10 years of directly applicable experience in solid waste management.
,
• PE certification required or ability to receive reciprocity.
,
• Knowledge of Federal and State environmental regulations is required.
,
• Excellent technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas visually and contextually.

• Strong verbal/written communication skills and ability to work independently and in teams.
,
• Technical expertise with solid waste permitting, design, and construction.
,
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; experience with MS Project is a plus.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience in environmental site assessments/investigations.

• Familiarity with PFAS and other emerging contaminant regulatory strategies.
