Senior Software Developer

Hydro Tasmania is seeking a Senior Software Developer in Hobart, TAS. The role involves supporting a collaborative software development team focused on trading renewable energy assets. Candidates should have experience in .NET, SQL Server, and possess strong stakeholder engagement skills. Salary range $135,459 – $157,027 plus super for our Senior position & Salary Range $113,448 - $131,517 plus Super for our non-Senior position. This role is preferably based in Hobart, Tas.

We have two positions currently available: a Software Developer and a Senior Software Developer. See below for information on where your skills/experiences would line up with these positions!

Who are you as a Senior Software Developer?

You have experience in collaboration and have a methodical mindset to deliver strategic objectives. Your experience also includes:
• Strong relationship building and stakeholder engagement skills,
• Self-awareness and emotional intelligence demonstrated in capabilities to coach, support and mentor your peers and team,
• Deep solution ownership, including object-oriented design, clean coding, refactoring.
• Driving continuous improvement through sprint retrospectives, and through iterative feature design, and performance optimisation.

Your Technical Experience Also Includes:
• Design and development of .NET and SQL Server software (WPF front-end experience is a bonus)
• Automated testing, CI/CD and release pipelines
• Debugging and problem solving
• Experience in a complex business domain, where domain modelling and domain driven design are critically important.

Who are you as a Software Developer?

You have experience in collaboration with a motivation to learn new things. Your experience also includes:
• Self-awareness and emotional intelligence demonstrated in how you manage your interactions and interdependencies in your team,
• Object-oriented design (SOLID, design patterns), clean coding,
• Driving continuous improvement through sprint retrospectives

Your Technical Experience Also Includes:
• Development of .NET and SQL Server software (WPF front-end experience is a bonus)
• Automated testing, CI/CD and release pipelines
• Debugging and problem-solving

About The Roles:

To put it simply, as a Software Developer at Hydro Tasmania, you will play a key role within a cross-functional scrum team to develop and support spot trading applications to allow us to thrive in the National Electricity Market. At Hydro Tasmania, this involves developing and improving designs for software and database solutions and standards as well as maintaining system and software integrity through strict change control procedures.

As a Software Developer at Hydro Tasmania, you will provide guidance and direction in large scale projects as well as leading your own projects including developing architecture as well as own and establish outcomes about 24/7 trading applications that support Hydro Tasmania’s position in the National Electricity Market.

As a Senior Software Developer at Hydro Tasmania, you will also be expected to provide technical guidance and support to the software development team, maintain expert level/technical knowledge base and work on some of the most technically challenging solutions.
