Rubicon is hiring a Senior Sales Consultant - Technical in Gauteng, South Africa, focusing on renewable energy solutions. The role involves driving sales, building customer relationships, and providing technical support for solar energy products. Key responsibilities include sales strategy, customer relationship management, and technical consultations. The candidate should have expertise in electrical systems and a strong understanding of renewable energy technologies to tailor solutions for customers.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Sales Consultant with technical expertise in renewable energy solutions to join our Sustainable Technology – Distribution Division. This role will focus on driving sales and building long-term customer relationships by leveraging both technical knowledge and sales expertise. The successful candidate will sell Rubicon's renewable energy products, including solar energy equipment and sustainable technology solutions, while providing customers with technical guidance and support. Your expertise in electrical systems and renewable energy will be crucial to understanding customer requirements and tailoring solutions that drive sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities:
• Sales Strategy & Planning
• Align and integrate sales plans for assigned customers, ensuring profitable and sustainable sales growth through technical consultation and solution-selling.
• Prepare and implement action plans to effectively search for sales leads and prospects within the assigned sales region, focusing on renewable energy solutions.
• Develop strategies to engage with current, potential, and dormant customers within the assigned region to increase sales of renewable energy equipment and solutions.
• Customer Relationship Management
• Build and nurture long-term relationships with key decision-makers at customer organizations, providing them with technical and commercial expertise on renewable energy technologies.
• Develop and maintain account plans for key customers, addressing both their technical needs and business goals.
• Conduct regular in-person or virtual customer meetings to assess project needs, provide recommendations, and offer tailored energy solutions.
• Sales & Business Development
• Close and grow sales by effectively communicating product features, benefits, and technical specifications to both technical and non-technical customers.
• Provide technical consultations and product demonstrations to ensure customers understand the advantages of Rubicon's renewable energy solutions.
• Understand customer challenges related to energy consumption, design, and implementation, and provide expert solutions to address their needs.
• Customer Service & Issue Resolution
• Manage customer concerns and provide technical support to resolve issues, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction throughout the sales cycle.
• Collaborate with the technical team to address any challenges with installations, technical specifications, or project requirements.
• Investigate and resolve any customer complaints, providing solutions and recommendations to prevent future issues.
• Market Expansion & Product Promotion
• Expand market awareness of Rubicon's renewable energy products by effectively communicating their features, advantages, and return on investment (ROI) to prospective customers.
• Promote the advantages of sustainable energy solutions, including cost savings, environmental impact, and long-term performance.
• Stay updated on the latest developments in renewable energy technologies, industry trends, and regulations to better serve customers.
• Technical Expertise & Support
• Provide in-depth technical knowledge of renewable energy systems, particularly solar power equipment, inverters, batteries, and other sustainable energy technologies.
• Conduct energy audits and site assessments to propose the most suitable and cost-effective solutions for customers.
• Support customers in technical decisions, from project conceptualization to execution, ensuring that the solutions proposed meet their energy requirements and budget constraints.
• Sales Reporting & Administrative Tasks
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of customer communications, sales activities, and technical consultations using CRM software (e.g., NetSuite).
• Prepare detailed quotes, proposals, and technical documentation for customers based on their specific requirements.
• Regularly report sales progress, pipeline updates, and any technical challenges to management.

Role Requirements:
• Educational Requirements:
• At minimum, a Matric/NQF4 equivalent.
• Electrical Engineering qualification (Diploma or Degree) is essential to provide technical expertise in renewable energy solutions.
• Experience:
• Proven track record of at least 2-3 years as an External Sales Consultant (essential) within the renewable energy or sustainable technology industry.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, solar energy solutions, and related technologies.
• Previous experience in technical sales and B2B sales, with a solid understanding of sales processes in the renewable energy sector.
• Skills & Competencies:
• In-depth technical knowledge of renewable energy products, including solar panels, inverters, batteries, and energy storage systems.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical clients and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., NetSuite) and Microsoft Office tools.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and customers.
• Additional Requirements:
• Own vehicle and valid driver's license are essential for travel to client meetings, installations, and events.
• Ability to travel regularly within the assigned sales region to meet with clients, attend trade shows, and conduct site assessments.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
