Job Description
Hydro Tasmania is seeking a Senior Renewable Energy Engineer for its Renewables Development team, focusing on battery energy storage systems and hybrid energy projects. The role requires over 5 years of experience in electrical or renewable engineering and offers flexible working options based in Hobart or Melbourne. The position involves technical specifications, equipment evaluation, and project implementation within the renewable energy sector.

This is a unique opportunity to work with Entura’s Renewables Development team on battery energy storage systems (BESS) projects and hybrid energy projects combining BESS, wind, solar and thermal generation.
As Entura continues to grow our teams to support our exciting pipeline of projects, we are seeking a Senior Renewable Energy Engineer to join our Renewables Development team.
Whilst the primary focus of this position will be on BESS projects, such as sizing of BESS, developing of technical specifications, evaluation of equipment, design, advice on project implementation as well as commissioning activities, you will also have the opportunity to be exposed to other forms of renewable energy, such solar and hybrid projects.
Entura is working with a range of Australian and international renewable energy project developers, where we provide technical expert advice around project development and implementation. We have a long track record of working with the Pacific Island Nations delivering technical solutions and support on their journey to become 100% renewable.
What you’ll bring:
Some of your key skills and experience may include:
• Tertiary qualifications in electrical or renewable engineering as required for admission as a member of Engineers Australia or equivalent or another appropriate professional body.
• Greater than 5 years’ experience in electrical or renewable engineering.
• Experience with the specification, procurement and installation of BESS.
• Knowledge of Australian design guidelines and standards applicable for BESS and solar designs.
• Electrical Power systems knowledge modelling experience in standard industry software, such as Power factory, PSSE or PSCAD.
• Primary or secondary electrical design experience for medium and high voltage systems.
